  1. Dear God do I love it when Cindy really hates something.

At first glace I thought The Masked Raider was in blackface. Gulp.

I LOLed so hard during this too-brief episode. And I agree, Ryan owes ALL of us, even though I liked the Namor story (don’t tell him).

    1. I wonder which she loathes more, the Masked Marvel, or Dr. Phibes? It is fun to get her wound up like this!

Blackface…whoa. I hadn’t thought of that, but now I’m disturbed. Thankfully, not the case. Yowza.

You guys drew grand prize for sure. There’s a reason Namor has gone relatively unchanged for 80 years!

      Chris

      1. Hmm, I actually thought the Masked Raider’s look was the only cool thing about him until I read Rob’s comment about blackface. That made me go back and re-examine your images. I guess it could look that way if you just glance at the images quickly.

  2. Though Marvel did a lot to make sure we knew their western characters really were part of the MU (palling around with Avengers, and of course, Ghost/Phantom Rider’s reincarnation), they never brought back the Gimp Raider, did they?

    Maybe it’s for the best.

  3. When I was a kid, I had audio cassette tapes of old time radio shows. One of my favorites was an episode of The Lone Ranger. I played the heck out of that one. I knew by your “daring masked rider of the plains,” Chris, that you had heard an episode or two as well. I bust a gut listening to your *revised* opening narration.
Oh, and the Masked Rider stuff was good too.

  4. Oh, Chris, your introduction was wonderful! This Masked Raider is no Buck Benny. Did this series last? There’s not a lot here to sustain it. As you were describing the story, I was thinking that a more apt name for his horse would have been Red Sonja. Make of that what you will.

  5. Impressive pod cast. Most Impressive. Huh never read this em character inspired by the Ranger. LOL Yeaaaah inspired by. Any way I had the Long ranger toys as a kid. They lasted a long time. They were made well. The 12 inch ones. Had got the costume ware the ranger dresses as a solder ended up putting it on a Captain Kirk figure. I watched the re runs of the tv show. I’m old, but not that old. I had the coloring book and even . Saw the Movie in the 80s and bought the toys for that. Had a pop up book and Ranger guns. Yeah that’s kind of all I know on this guy. Had the mask as a kid what not. The Lone Ranger one not the Marvel guy. Even read Green Hornet ware they made the Ranger and Hornet connection.

Was kind of cool. And liked the character tv shows and what not. Can’t wait to hear ya’lls next pod cast.

  6. Wonderful intro, Chris! I watched reruns of the show every Sunday after church. It was the “Cisco Kid/Lone Ranger” hour, and just the coolest. Your intro made me equally nostalgic and amused!

But this guy. UGH! Thank goodness Logic Lass is here to save us! Cindy was in fine form. Well done.
