  1. Hmm, another episode where Coach is a crabby, this time with Sam. Maybe Nick’s health issues are slipping into his performance, or maybe the writers deliberately made this part of his character after being left at the altar. It’s enough of a trend to be reasonable. Although “with probing tongues”, “no with a thumbtack” still cracks me up!

  2. I don’t think Diane being wrong about state capitals is out of character. I’m not saying she isn’t smart, but her focus is more on artists, authors, philosophers, and poets. I imagine she learned the state capitals as a young girl, assumed she knew them all, and then never gave them another thought.

Add me to the list of people who cannot hear the name Albania without bursting into song.

  3. I really loved this episode of the series, it’s just so funny. Us never seeing Miss Purdy was a nice touch–it works so much better that we have to imagine her.

Also, when Sam turns to Norm and Cliff for help and they mock him, is this the first time they EVER teased Sam on anything? It was established how much they and the other bar flies worshipped him, but here they feel comfortable enough to throw Sam some (deserved) shade.

Also, I like the detail that Sam was a high school dropout, Not sure the writers meant it as such, but it’s a nice comment about what the meat grinder of pro sports can do to people, and then what do they do once sports is done with them. What DOES an alcoholic high school dropout do when his career is over in his early 30s?

And all I know about Albania comes from this episode.
