Thanks for the Dark Shadows connection shout out. The actress in question appeared a handful of times as an older character who dropped some info or mis-info on some of the main characters, and then disappeared after a handful of episodes. I kept waiting for her to stick around every time she appeared, but she never did. Maybe she was too busy giving Carla a hard time?

They’re probably doing it on purpose, but it’s amusing to me that literate characters like Diane and Frasier are basically doing slapstick over in sophisticated Europe.
And about topping off Norm’s beer… How does the tab work at Cheers? Norm drinks so quickly, he wouldn’t need to abandon a dram of beer at the bottom of his mug, so does he think that’s just the same beer and he “won” an extra 4/5ths? I guess Norm could just pay a monthly stipend that covers all his beer; it’d be easier to figure out for Sam.
I’m far from an expert on bar tabs. I do recall we’ll hear Sam say “Your tab’s my retirement plan.” To Norm’s reply, “Good one, Sammy.”
