Give Me Those Star Wars 43: The High Republic: LIGHT OF THE JEDI

The galaxy is at peace, ruled by the glorious REPUBLIC and protected by the noble and wise JEDI KNIGHTS. But just as a magnificent renaissance spreads throughout the Republic, so does a frightening new adversary....

  1. Looking mighty forward to this. I tried, I really did, I tried to finish this book… something just didn’t fire for me.

  2. Excellent coverage, everyone! I certainly enjoyed listening to Jonathan and James and hearing their viewpoints on this book, considering how differently they came to Star Wars. I enjoyed all three viewpoints on this novel.

I’ve been looking forward to the High Republic setting and the new stories that can be told in this setting. I think like you, as much as I love Luke Skywalker, I would like to see some new stories that don’t have to do with the Skywalker clan.

I’m still working through the Legends novels so I probably won’t get to this one for awhile but it’s good to know that you enjoyed (at least some parts) of this novel. Are any of you looking forward to more stories set in the High Republic setting? Or are you guys more looking forward to the Disney+ series’ that take place in the Skywalker timeline?

Good job as always. Keep up the great work!

  3. Am I the only one that misses the soul-crushing negativity of Angela Drew? We all got spoiled after the Asoka episode

  4. You made me want to read SW books you monsters.

But really, much of my exposure to Star Wars was originally through books and NOT the movies, so that tracks. Consider me intrigued.

    TIL ALL ARE THE REPUBLIC!

  5. Dang it! You got me. I’m a sucker for Star Wars new beginnings. I’m gonna try this book now. Looking forward to it! If it sucks, I’m gonna take it outta of your dewback.

  6. I’ve added this episode to my list of “podcasts to listen to, once I’ve had a chance to consume the appropriate content” ( or my PLOICCAC list for short), right after the Super Mates WandaVision episode. I look forward to hearing your discussion, once I’ve read the book.
