  1. Another great show. I completely agree with Dan about Col. Flagg as being the second best s recurring character behind Sidney. I loved it when he appeared but as was stated on the show, M*A*S*H moved on from those types of stories in the later years.
Also I agree with Dan the end of season three into the first three episodes of season four not only introduced new characters but changed the tone and shift of the characters from that point on other than Frank whom seemed to be stuck in the same mode other than pining for Margret.
Can’t wait until season three but Dan wants to cover the same episodes that I want to talk about but I have other choices as well to hopefully discuss in the future. Thanks again Rob and to all the guests for the shows this year.

  2. Over the course of the series many “friends” of the characters seemed to show up and for the most part, you could KIND of see how they would have had a previous relationship (some were fellow doctors, past loves, classmates) but it does seem far fetched that Trapper and Pratt would have known in each other in civilian life. I do enjoy that when Pratt see’s Trapper he refers to him as the “Dirty Doctor”! Vinnie MUST have known Trapper, because he refers to his reputation as a as a cad in regards to his marriage. I always thought that was amusing. Perhaps Trapper treated Pratt in civilian life? Maybe Pratt shared with him that he worked in army intelligence? Regardless, a great episode from you both and a great season all around. I, too, can’t wait till we get to season 4 and all of the iconic episodes to come. Looking forward to putting my name in the hat for “Quo Vadis Capt. Chandler”, “The Late Capt. Pierce”, or any of the amazing episodes that season offers! Keep up the great work, that is all!

  3. Great review of what I always thought was a great episode. I have nothing to add other than to say that I came across Edward Winter on a 6th season episode of Barnaby Jones last month. He played a Viet Nam vet doctor (of all things!) who was running away from a cowardice charge. He had many scenes with Lee Meriwether, and was very, very good. Worth borrowing at your local library if you are interested in seeing another side of Col Flagg.

  4. Two hypotheses: Pratt was Trapper’s neighbor back in Boston (a transplant, so no distinctive accent), OR Pratt started college later in life and he and Trapper attended college together. He could have entered the working world after high school, served in World War II, and come home with a GI Bill that gave him an opportunity for college he would not have otherwise had. Plenty of people’s lives followed that track.

Thanks for a great show about a great show, as always.

  5. As usual, all of my thoughts were covered by the podcast or the feedback already. Just agree that this episode is a hilarious Spy vs Spy story. And that bit with Radar and the cigarette? LOL every time!
