  1. Wow, sounds like a train wreck. Thanks for taking two for the team fellas.

In regards to that poster, it’s hard to imagine now, but you have to remember World War II was apparently an okay subject to poke fun at in the late 60s. I give you Hogan’s Heroes. As far as approach, about as far from M.A.S.H. as one can get, yet still both are comedies about military personnel overseas during wartime. Hogan’s Heroes went off in 1971. M.A.S.H. began in 1972. My, how attitudes changed so quickly.

  2. Take two general’s stars out of petty cash, because you both deserve promotions after that one. This movie (I can’t even bring myself to type the name) may not have drawn any laughs, but this episode certainly did, and in a good way. I really appreciate the effort you both made to give this film a fair and honest review, without just trashing it.

What really hurts is that you can see the potential for a good movie in both the cast and concept. It’s a shame that potential wasn’t realized.

I’m looking forward to the next MASH movie tie-in mini-episode.

    1. It really is a shame because the cast is amazing. This should have been a cult classic at the very least. Unfortunately, the story just falls apart.

  3. Thanks for the fun episode guys! I’d never heard of this one and may check it out. There were a bunch of those late 1960s movie “romps” that really demonstrate just how culture was changing at the time: Old Hollywood bumping against the mod era (Casino Royale for example). I have sat through Otto Preminger’s Skidoo and that may be worse than this one. I can only imagine a poster proclaiming “The Extraordinary Seaman is Coming Soon!”

I only watched Skidoo years ago for its Batman connection: Preminger directs and Gorshin, Meredith,& Romero appear. Plus they sing the final credits!

  4. Now I don’t need to ever see this movie. Whew!

It was fun how you guys would chuckle every time the title was said. But a weird question is, did the movie makers truly intend this double entendre? If so, the “humor” in the movie didn’t match the bawdiness of the title. Just one more mystifying facet of this film.
