  1. Well this was a hoot. Thank you for taking me seriously on this occasion Ryan. That’s never happened before.

I would have put a $100 on Dr Worm making the playlist, but this was whole bunch of pleasant surprises!

  2. You absolutely picked the right “Good Vibrations”. The Beach Boys tune was a revolutionary classic. The Marky Mark one? The video gave us grown men who won’t pull their freakin’ pants up. So no.

And I still have trouble rectifying the fact that “The Night The Lights Went Out in Georgia” was originally sung by Mama Harper from Mama’s Family. Weird.

Fun show! And I love Tremors! I kept waiting for you to make a Michael Gross to Michal J. Fox to Back to the Future to Huey Lewis connection.

    Chris

  3. I was a slave to proofing or researching for my own shows this month or plowing through the hours of All The Pouches episodes Jon released last month, so I had something like 19 Fire & Water downloads to sort out. Since they were short, I targeted these Micro Playlists, though I was played for a sucker, since I had to listen at regular speed to appreciate a music show (Rob also got me on most of the Billy Joel episode while on the road because I couldn’t safely switch back to 2x once I realized he was hardly playing any music.) I like the memeness of this endeavor, and will therefore go me-me with my own counter list EP…

    1) “Whole Lotta Shakin’ Goin’ On” by Jerry Lee Lewis
Kevin Bacon has done a bunch of mid-century period movies, between Animal House, JFK, Apollo 13, Sleepers, Where the Truth Lies, X-Men: First Class, and Black Mass. I went with one from early in his career that seemed most appropriate, Diner.

    2) “Tremor Christ” by Pearl Jam
I swear to God I thought Fred Ward was dead, so if nothing else, I got that out of this playlist. Then I picked this track because I don’t associate Fred Ward with music and I just went literal.

    3) “Gumboots” by Paul Simon
As the only action franchise starring a well-armed Steven Keaton, some modest acknowledgement of the Gummer clan was required.

    4) “I’m a Survivor” by Reba McEntire
She was the queen of country back when I still listened to it in the ’80s, and though I figure my favorite was her cover of Bobbie Gentry’s “Fancy,” this seemed to fit the subject better.

    5) “Worms of the Earth” by Finch
    On the nose.
