Great episode as always! Love hearing Terry talk about music of any kind, and nice live demonstrations of strumming and picking as well.
I’m sure I heard both Bob and Nanci Griffith’s versions first, but the song never really intrigued me until a couple years ago when I heard the cover by The Airborne Toxic Event. Not that their cover is anything revolutionary, but that was the first time I really cued into the lyrics, the dialogue, and the momentum of the song. Since then, it’s become one of my favorites of Bob’s 1960s works.
Interestingly, for a conversational back-and-forth song, I’ve never heard “Boots of Spanish Leather” done as a duet. Have either of you?
