  1. It was a surprise that Vera suddenly knew how to use computers, wasn’t it? The TV cut had an added scene of Vera actually reading up of “Advanced Computer Technology” — or at least trying to read while Evil Superman and Lorelei were… doing what Rob didn’t realize what they were doing… on the other side of the wall behind her.

    Reading through the noise

And the book she reads is super-thin. I guess computer technology back then wasn’t all that advanced.

  2. Wow, I remember that now, Isamu! I haven’t watched the TV cut in YEARS, but throughout my teen years, my recording off of ABC was my go to. You sharing this screen grab totally unlocked those honestly uncomfortable memories! Thanks…I think! 😉

  3. Regarding your comments on the inaccessibility of Webster’s lair (and questions of how such an installation could be built in the first place), I was reminded of a trip I undertook to Israel/Palestine a couple of years ago. At one point, we visited Jericho, and specifically a monastery built into the mountain where it is believed that Jesus Christ was tempted in the wilderness. In modern times, the monastery is accessible via cable car, but it was built many centuries ago without such innovations. Here’s a picture of the side of the mountain, taken from within one of the cable cars.

None of this actually answers the question of how Ross was able to build his own, but I still thought it relevant.

In another part of the episode, you talk again about how one can easily envision Superman III alongside the comic books of the time. You may have mentioned already, but do you plan to cover the actual comic adaptation that was done at the time (I still have my copy somewhere, offered as a promotion via Carl’s Jr.)?
