This year we lost another actor from the Superman movie universe Gavan O’Herlihy who played Brad in Superman 3 past away September 15, 2021 at the age for 70.
Hey gentlemen. Thanks for doing this in spite of this movies “imperfections”, to say the least! It is greatly appreciated.
As far as the lack of “Super Feats” used to defeat the computer, I feel that Superman needed to use his Super Intellect to overcome what is in effect the worlds first Super Computer utilizing artificial intelligence. It saw the acid as no threat because in its current state it was not. However it did not know what effect heat would have upon it.
I do wish Superman had used his heat vision as the catalyst to make this happen. Would’ve been cool!
And since you brought it up, I am truly convinced that a future Star Trek- The Next Generation writer got the idea for the Borg from watching Vera’s transformation!!

I had to go back and rewatch this scene once again, because I could have sworn that Superman does use his heat vision on the acid to get it warming up a bit. I was wrong. I did read the Official Comic Adaptation of this movie back in the day, though i’ve sadly lost that comic over the years – I wonder if this was something he did on those pages and I’ve always filled in the blanks!
Weird bit here, but Superman almost acts like this acid is dangerous to him as well, which it really shouldn’t be. I know Reeves was trying to illustrate the Man of Steel’s caution with not spilling it, but the shot where he is being pulled back into the computer and moving the acid to his right looks awkward. In fact, much of this scene looks very awkward, and I can’t imagine Reeves felt the same confidence with what he was seeing in the dailies as he did in the two previous films.
