  1. Fun! I always though the biggest misstep of the Kelvin timeline was trying to jump ahead and do Wrath of Khan instead of revisiting how the changes to the timeline affected the original five-year mission.
    Thumbs up!

  2. Fun discussion gentlemen! If only Paramount could remove their heads from their arses, and see fit to green light some of these films. I’m particularly intrigued by the revamps of “The Doomsday Machine” (which I consider one of Trek’s best), ” The Enterprise Incident” and “The Savage Curtain”, and I like how you worked in a bit of “All Our Yesterdays” in there, Siskoid. That is Cindy’s favorite episode, but sadly the Kelvin Spock/Uhura romance (which I feel much makes this Spock VERY un-Spock-like) doesn’t really leave room for poor Zarabeth.

“The Savage Curtain” movie could even bring Kirk into contact (and in love) with Edith Keeler, roping “The City on the Edge of Forever”, of course. That may be too many things in the stew, but I like it. And of course when you grab the real Abe Lincoln from out of time…well, you are also crossing into Bill & Ted territory, which isn’t a bad thing!

    1. I think “Lincoln in Space” is iconic Trek, so it had to be in there. And yes, that’s why I couldn’t actually do All Our Yesterdays. That’s no way to treat Zarabeth.

  3. And what of Jaylah?

    Great show.

I have to say, I think you could go pretty deep with the NuTrek cast. I think they’re less protective of the roles than the original cast – esp. Pine.

      1. I really loved this episode, guys. I think a sequel of sorts is in order – extrapolating how the NuTrek universe would have differed – (i.e. No Cage/Menagerie; No Chekhov on the Enterprise; is there a David Marcus; what happens to the Reliant/Genesis w/out a ceti alpha; etc)

  4. I was hoping for a mention of that time when Kirk traveled back to 1984 and swept an exotic island princess off her feet, while they both faced off against a bounty hunter turned businessman of “long ago” from the Delta Quadrant.

  5. Fun show. When Siskoid explained that his overall plan was to make Star Trek IV, V, and VI, I misunderstood it to be remaking the original crew’s final films. Non-traditional choices for a “trilogy” out of that six, but they already remade “Khan,” and they don’t need to search for Spock.

Back before 2009, we had similar conversations about Mirror Trek episodes, or if a Klingon or Romulan ship on its five year mission fell into the same plots. I think I compiled a list where the moral quandary of the planet of the week was solved when it was conquered to serve the Empire. The way you phrase the question allows for more variations.
