  1. Great show, guys.

I really enjoyed Chris’s enthusiasm for the Clark to Superman change. As a fellow comic enthusiast, I can concur with how exited I get when the film makers get something really right. I always say the minute I became a Batman fan was the first time four-or-five-year-old saw the fire come out of the Batmobile’s tail pipe. This sounds like that might have been that Superman moment for you, Chris, even though I know you said you saw Superman the movie at a young age. Heck, I was in my 30s when Spider-Man 2 came out, and I remember how thrilled I was when I recognized one shot was the full-page splash from Amazing Spider-Man 50 where Peter leaves his suit in the garbage.

Really, I enjoyed all the commentary on the movie, from the Perry/Clark scene to Lois in Paris. You’re making me want to watch the movie again. BTW, Rob and Chris, I hope you guys appreciate having each other to geek out with. I don’t think I’ve had a real comics friend since college. I go to the movies with a group of ladies and they pretty much just always talk about how hot the actors playing the super heroes are. I’d much rather discuss how cool Superman’s transformation was.

    1. Thanks Gothos, and I’m sorry you don’t have a friend to “geek out” with per se. But at least you have someone to see the movies with? And while Cindy gets nearly as many geeky references as I do, she still comments on the actor hotness from time to time.

I definitely appreciate having Rob to talk with on some of my favorite movies. Especially when he indulges me losing my mind like on this episode.

      Chris

      1. I’m lucky to have a couple of co-worker friends that share my interest in the movies, and for some reason, they encourage me to fill in the history of the characters from the comics. Granted, I have tons of fun Tim-splaining these things.

        1. Yeah, I was being a bit whiney, I guess. I get asked a lot of questions about comics now that the movies are popular. One of my movie buddies even asked me to help her pick out some comics. I’m a bit worried if she starts spending too much money on the hobby, her husband is going to kick my @$$.

  2. We’re getting to see peak Lois Lane. Doing whatever it takes to get the story, to the point of not necessarily thinking it through. So fun!

  3. Great episode guys, but I have to point out that Chris made a little boo-boo. Right before “The Best Shirt Rip Ever,” Chris says “We cut to the exterior of the Daily News Building (which is the Daily Planet) in New York, but Metropolis.”

    That’s incorrect.

With the exception of the same establishing shot of the fruit stand in front of the Daily Planet building (from the first Superman movie) every exterior shot of the Daily Planet building for Superman II was filmed in England, on the massive Metropolis city street set built in Pinewood Studios.

    1. Well, YOU know it’s in Paris, and Clark and Jimmy know, and Rob and Chris know it … but maybe those terrorists didn’t get the memo. They might have thought they were in downtown East Houston or something.

  4. MEANWHILE…
I mentioned in the SUPERMAN podcast how a certain anonymous woman keeps showing up in the first Daily Planet scenes – a White woman with short blonde hair and a prominent nose.
She also shows up for an instant immediately in the beginning of the first New York… I mean, Metropolis scene. I didn’t notice her until rewatching the movie with grandson. Forty years later and she’s still haunting me!

    🙂
