  1. My First year in College, My friends and I went to Toronto and Niagra Falls just before summer vacation, and as I was just getting back into comics Superman II was totally on my mind. (I wanted to “play” the little kid ….fortunately my friends talked me out of it!) but I did ask for orange Juice (freshly squeezed!)

    1. Act like the little kid? Did you mother ignore you as much as his did?

Did you manage to find any orange juice? This is a serious question that requires a serious answer.

      1. Well the hotel we stayed at had OJ (Not freshly squeezed) but It wasn’t really all that good. I think rancid is probably the best word that describes it.

  2. With the topic of Otis as a bumbling sidekick and being left behind, I’ve always been curious why there is so much less Otis in Superman II compared to the first movie. I mean I’m sure there was some sort of true behind the scenes reason, but was it just that Lex wanted a little more “alone time” with Miss Tessmacher or what?

Wow, I never really thought about it, but what does happen to Miss Tessmacher after they are at the Fortress? Did she really find the bathroom and get sucked down? Did she stumble upon some kind of security and get vaporized? Nah, I’m sure she took Lex back to America and retired to Tessmacher Peaks.

Rob votes for nixing the bunny ears gag? You are determined to wound my childhood fun, aren’t you, Mr. Kelly?

    1. They show them both riding the snowmobile after they leave the Fortress. Luthor is heard saying: “South, Miss Tessmacher. South!”

  3. I went to Niagara Falls shortly after seeing this movie.
The “Honeymoon Haven Hotel” building is actually a souvenir shop / restaurant. My friend and I also spent quite a bit of time trying to determine which rock formation along the Great Gorge was the one where Lois and Clark came back on shore.
    Good times!

  4. I live in Toronto and go to Niagara Falls often. Then building depicted as a hotel in Superman II is not really a hotel. It is a small building with gift shops and restaurants.

  5. I’ll be going to Niagara Falls over the 4th of July weekend, my wife and kids will be very curious as to why I’m so interested in the gift shop/restaurant building, though my 8 year old may question why I’ll encourage him to hang off of a rail over the falls….I’ll report back upon return……

    1. When the kid falls off the railing, Lois yells for help, Clark hear’s her, changes into Superman, flies off and catches him before he reaches the bottom. I’ve been there…the drop is only a few meters. It would have taken 2 seconds for the kid to reach the bottom, not the eternity they make it out to be in the movie. No way all of that could have happened before the kid reached the bottom.

      1. They slow it down for us to be able to see it. If it was shown in real time, it would have happened so fast, it would’ve been a blue and red BLUR!

        1. Slowing it down or not, it still would not have taken that long. By the time Lois ran to the railing the kid would had already been a the bottom.

          1. Yeah, um, it’s a movie about a “guy who FLIES”!!
A few liberties need to be allowed.

          2. I agree! All I am saying is that if you go to Niagara Falls you will see that the drop is not that high. Besides it would have been more beleivable if they would have gone with their original idea of having a kid in a canoe edging towards the falls and Superman catching him at the last second.

          3. Yes, that would have been better.
Another thing, if we’re gonna be critical, there is about 5 feet of ground (if I remember correctly) between that railing and the actual edge. That kid would have fallen on the ground on the other side of the railing!

          4. Canadian “Horseshoe” Falls

Length of brink: 2600 feet / 792.4 meters

            Height: 167 feet / 50.9 meters
Volume of water: 600,000 U.S. gallons / 2,271,247 liters per second
