  1. i really like that “Gus Gorman being secretly Brainiac” idea … ’cause im a big fan of the Lego Brainiac , and he plays it funny and whinny too , plus imagine a Richard Pryor morphing into Brainiac scene , prime nightmare fuel .
Richard Pryor could have been an amazing Brainiac , he has the range and it would have been interesting to see him play a super villain . Gus / Brainiac ( like a Jekyll & Hyde) could have been done IMO. Happy Halloween everyone

  2. I am also in the camp that says the split did physically happen, just like the Superboy story in Adventure Comics 255 when Red Kryptonite split him into his two dual identities (though it was Clark Kent who was evil).

And on whether the fly-away exit from the junkyard was green-screened, I think it was. In the TV (extended) cut of my Dad’s, Superman is a bit transparent in the shot.

    See-through Superman

  3. Rob, Chris, and David, this was great — insightful, enjoyable analysis of great scenes. Thank you! I made a point of catching the last episode with Michael Bailey, and that was great, too.

In my opinion, the rules are different when it comes to our dark sides, physically embodied or not. We all have to strangle them on a regular basis.

David, may all your pitches, past and future, be accepted and published. Until next time!

  4. Another riveting episode – thanks so much gentlemen! Unlike Superman you successfully crushed it!
Chris Reeve’s ‘evil’ Superman is quite a piece of work – the combination of his physique and ruthless performance makes this character completely terrifying. I have no doubt Batman vs Superman would have ended very differently if Bruce Wayne had tried to take on this version of the Man of Steel.

My favourite sequence in Superman III is evil Superman’s look of utter loathing when he first confronts Clark Kent in the junkyard. Before a single blow has landed, the expression of hatred, disgust and perhaps a hint of shame on his face is electrifying in its menace. I would personally have been the first person out of that gate and wouldn’t have stopped running until I reached Kansas.
