  1. I’m glad you gentlemen are finding stuff to appreciate and enjoy with this entry into the Superman mythos. It’s such a simple formula. Have Superman BE Superman doing what Superman does!
The discussion of favorite characters not necessarily being your favorite titles is very interesting, and may be worth a FW Presents episode. Captain America is my favorite character by a wide margin, but I’d give up my Captain America comics before I gave up my Justice League of America collection. In fact, all my favorite Cap moments and all the things that made me a Cap fan were in other comics. The original Secret Wars, The Avengers and my absolute favorite comic book of all time, The Revenge of the Living Monolith. That Marvel graphic novel shows Captain America at his absolute best!

  2. For the sake of argument, just how much Patreon $ would it take to get you fellas to actually do a “Superman 4: The Quest for Peace” podcast?

    1. No amount of Patreon money will make Rob budge, and honestly, I have no desire to slog through the film five minutes at a time either, so it’s not all on him. We are planning on doing a one-off episode on Superman IV, so it will get covered on the show…eventually.

      Chris

    1. The bad guy is kinda cool! But, that’s why I feel 4 IS worse. They created this awesome nuclear powered supervillain for Superman to fight, and yet, they still managed to make a lousy movie.
Superman 4 should have been an awesome action packed epic.

  3. Great show, and welcome to Henry.

Knowing that country and what a field would look like, rocks are a constant issue. Chris is right, the rocks would be picked before planting, (used to do it!) but you’d never get them all. The headers on the combines (that’s what picks up the grain) would have rock guards on the cutting blade to prevent rocks from getting into the combine, but they do go through the thresher machine from time to time. (Spent much down time helping my family fix those dusty beasts) Also, the combines don’t cut close to the ground, just hight enough to make sure you snip the head of grain.

Call me for more movie farming tips!

  4. It was nice hearing Henry on the show. I enjoy his Superman and Lois and Pals podcast and he added a lot to the conversation.

There was something he touched on that I whole heartedly agree with. My perception of who Clark Kent is as a character really began to form with this movie. Seeing him just being Clark and having a picnic with Lana and flirting and not having a fizzy drink explode on his pants made more of an impression on me and that’s why the Byrne revamp was the one that brought me to the comics. So, it’s a straight line from this movie to me buying the Post Crisis books. It’s really Clark and Lana that make this movie work for me as much as it does.

I also dug the Clark to Superman change in this one. It was a neat effect and looked like it was right about of a Swan drawn comic. And it always irks me when Superman just gives the farmer a dirty look. I agree with whoever said he couldn’t have seen him. What farm hand expects for kids to be unconscious in the grain?

Great show as always and I’m just going to ignore Chris’ comment about me not being able to talk about the movies anymore. He is apparently forgetting the arbitration where we agreed to and I’d hate to have to get back into the litigation that the brackets episode caused. None of us have time for that. 🙂
