Tough Like a Girl #3 – Unbeatable Squirrel Girl Vol. 1

What is there to say about a superhero with a name like Squirrel Girl? Well you could point out that she’s got a tail, fights crime and sings her own theme song. If that doesn’t get you at least curious, then we don’t know what to do with you. Hosts Lis and Nathaniel are joined by their friend Giuliana to talk about this one of a kind hero.

Our theme song was composed and performed by erica dreisbach, and you can find more of her work at her website right here. And our logo art is by Nic Buxom.

  1. I had been aware of Squirrel Girl prior to hearing this episode, but had never read any of her books. After hearing your discussion, I told my wife (who is not a comic book fan) all about her, and my wife immediately found a copy of Vol 1 at our public library for our eight year old daughter. Now, both my wife and daughter are overnight fans of Squirrel Girl, and the Squirrel Girl theme song can be heard throughout our house. Thank you, both.

  2. Squirrel Girl was such a treat. I’d followed her for a few years now in GLA (Great Lakes Avengers) and New Avengers, but this comic is a much better take on the character. So much fun!

BTW, I read these issues in the Marvel Unlimited App (no, I’m not paid to plug it, I just have … a terrible addiction to it.) and the side comments are indeed on the bottom of each page. So I’d bet they were in the original comics as well, not just the trade paperback. What’s sad is I got halfway through the first issue before noticing them! DOH!

And let’s hear it for heroes with rhyming names. When you get to the next collection, oh-ho-ho-ho!!!

    Great episode, Punchers!
