In the recent past, Chuck Taine inserts Rickenbacker and Killer into The Maim Game in hopes of making contact with the last Czarnian. In the present, Dharma allows Staq Mavlen into the Shadowspire to confess his actions in merging the Milestone Universe into this one. In 2193, Lummox and the Legionnaires fend off The Order of Darkness, though Thunder is distracted by the seduction attempt of the returned Father Joseph St. Simone. In 3020, Tristan, Isolde, and Bogdan Tarka travel to Johannesburg to recruit Sir Gawain’s son, Jimmy. In 3058, Hans von Hammer manages to locate Val Armorr to seek help in freeing his companions, but Matt Ryder and the Science Police are in hot pursuit. In 3099, Shikari agrees to help Shira Torr locate her brother Bar, but Dragonwing eavesdrops.

With Ray Palmer inaccessible, there is no one to help reverse Firestorm’s nuclear fission, which restarts the doomsday clock ticking toward the destruction of all creation. Firestorm’s attentions are now as divided as their power. In Ogaden, Captain Atom and Pozhar confront the combined might of Deathstorm, Gehenna, and Shadowstorm, which forces Ronnie Raymond to face his greatest failures. On Qward, Jason Rusch carries the White Lantern Power Battery against Solaris the Anti-Cosmos, which has converted every star in the Antimatter Universe into mere neurons within its totality. This is the mission for which life was restore to Mobius, the former Anti-Monitor, but is even their might enough against so immense a threat? The Golem seems to target Chris Kent due to his connection to the Phantom Zone, but Apollo, Fallen Angel, and Superwoman stand at his defense. Noticeably absent is The Superboy, and Guardian decides that the team would be best served by his pursuing the secrets J.L. has been keeping. The first Green Lantern from Uxor was a deviant whose existence sullied his entire species. He rebelled by joining the corps, and even more disturbingly, he disobeyed his chosen masters as he had his society. In perhaps the ultimate depravity, he joined the Omega Men, defined by resistance to authority, no two alike. Even in death, his memory was intolerable. Though it went against the very fiber of Uxorian being, one was chosen by committee to make the ultimate sacrifice, of correcting the path of the aberrant Green Man. He would otherwise stand as a model Uxorian, committing utterly to conformity, and ever-bending to the will of the Guardians of the Universe. None were more enthusiastic to have their body hollowed out and replaced by cybernetics, to serve as the highest example of adherence, policing the police as an Alpha Lantern. Exactly the sort of unquestioning “good soldier” the Dark Destroyer could use against Zarox-13, Garguax, and that interstellar iconoclast Adam Strange…

We’re not going to talk about how Darkseid ended up on Old West Earth-18 in a pink bikini, but if we were going to talk about that, it would involve his search for the Exaltation Rubric that could in theory make the Lord of Apokolips so excitable that he would somehow end up in a two-piece. And again, it would then behoove us to mention the quartet of bad hombres whose possession of said MacGuffin had allowed them to fight on as mercenaries since, like, Waterloo. In particular, the beating handed down to Tyson Aikens by old gringo Dio and the whitest boy Prior Hearst while that sad sorry son of a “gun” Ulysses Hazard (still no relation, Roy) looked on. But most importantly, we would never, ever, in one hundred million years address the cuddling with a craggy New God with a whaletail, patent leather go-go boots and dish gloves. Totally out of line and of no interest to anyone, I am absolutely certain.

CRISIS ACROSS INFINITE TIME TIE-IN! With Golden Gladiator having uncovered the secret plot of the present three Warriors from Forever to break ranks and alter the timestream, Arak’s company must consider whether to stop their planned execution of already once-deceased Nazi collaborator Dr. Terrence Kurtzberger, soon to be their temporary time lost teammate Cyclotron. “Dr. Curtis” was already operating on forbidden knowledge picked-up from Firebrand and Per Degaton– who knows what reverberations further temporal stone-skips could turn into tidal waves? How will Harbinger respond to their choices, and perhaps more importantly, what might Cyclotron carry back with him to 1942?

          1. Argh!Yle is the original Conduit, with deep canonical ties to the origin of the hero known by every schoolchild. Bureau 4 Life.

  2. Another great episode and great ideas around the duplicate Green Arrows/ Lanterns.

    My one book:

The Ghost Patrol and the Grave Diggers –
Sort of an anthology book. Both teams part of a bigger whole but with different purposes.
The Ghost Patrol aren’t dead spectres but live ghost hunters trying to help those haunted to be free of the spirits, or perhaps help the spirits get the rest they deserve. This will be mostly supernatural.

The Gravediggers are superior detectives, trying to find the bodies of those presumed dead from unsolved murders (people missing for too long). They then try to recover the body from whereever it is lain and give it a proper burial, digging the graves themselves.

Sometimes the teams are working on two ends of the same case.

Some gritty, supernatural, odd art would work best here – perhaps Riley Rossmo or Tana Ford.

  3. I’m surprised Siskoid doesn’t have books that routinely kill off members of the Outsiders and the Omega Men.

    1. I don’t like death in comic books, it’s either a waste of potential or laughably impermanent. But what’s worse for GF? Getting killed or being voided from continuity completely?

    BABE #8
    Written by MARK RUSSELL
    art by JAY FOSGIT
    cover by DARREN WARD
With public sentiment having turned sharply against the extra-terrestrials since the violent Stoneville break-out, serious discussion is underway in the halls of government about initiating a program of euthanization within the A.C.E. camps. The Justice Department specifically seeks to execute Broot, arguing against his having any inalienable rights to defend his actions in Nebraska. Further, Reep’s party has been blamed for the ill-effects suffered by the Challengers of the Unknown. Regardless of their innocence in that regard, they have been targeted for extermination as part of the emergency powers afforded the Council of Homeworld Security to eradicate the threat of the escaped aliens. Perhaps most painful to Babe, his former friend Dart is now gunning for him, both for bounty and out of an abundance of caution about his potential impregnation by the Dark Destroyer. Everything comes to a head in this final issue!

No sooner have Black Canary & Huntress escaped The Monsterlands than Law’s Legionnaires arrive to stop anyone from skipping out on Earth-2. Of all the forces to prevent Dinah from pursuing her goal of avenging the Justice League, why did it have to be the one with a parallel Earth version of her lost love, Oliver Queen? But none of that may matter if the newly forming Injustice Unlimited of Cheetah, The Fiddler, Dummy, Lady Deathbolt, Ultra-Humanite, & The Wizard overcome the lot of them.

Santi has spent millions of dollars of other people’s money on a cursed picture filmed in pieces with lots of “improvisational” real life action footage. Pulling this mess together into something that can get a “Fresh” certification may be the biggest challenge of his life. Unfortunately, long days of coordinating editing and special effects lead into troubled nights at his rental, the “House of Mystery.” Santi can feel someone watching him, and detects disturbances about the house. CONQUEST OF THE BARON EARTH #8
    written by PETER J. TOMASI
    art by SERGIO DAVILA
    cover by CHRIS SAMNEE
Years ago, Prince Brion Markov was among the first metahumans intentionally manifested outside the United States. Thereafter, he was never far from the influence of Dr. Helga Jace, whose “Supermen Theory” exposed the international metahuman arms race, and partially centered Europe’s response on their nation of Markovia. Under the cover of a “false flag” insurgency and with the invaluable assistance of Leviathan, Markovia initiated the conflict of the baronry to place now-King Brion at the forefront of 21st century super powers. Seemingly besieged and the recipient of global sympathies, Geo-Force is positioned to become an internationally renowned hero for quelling the conflict, and all it took was his utter betrayal of former ally Black Lightning. While Jefferson Pierce has been buoyed by aid from Samuel Wilson of S.H.A.D.E., Brion has access to the Russian People’s Heroes, and has assembled a new incarnation of Outsiders to serve as his Blackshirts…

Tynisha didn’t do anything wrong. She helped sick people get emergency care, got COVID for her trouble, and it blew up her entire life. There’s no way of proving that she was once Tyrone Hodge, so she has no identification, no credentials, and no way of getting legitimate work. Security cameras at the ATM led her her bank account being frozen, not that she had much in the bank to begin with. She long ago abandoned her hateful family, and self-loathing in isolation left no room for real friends. The metahuman powers that she manifested during her coma may have helped the neighborhood against some gangbangers and corrupt cops, but now she’s wanted by the authorities. The person most responsible for her predicament, Dr. Clint, is actively blackmailing her. Her best hope for getting out of this mess, Dr. Mid-Nite, has ghosted her. But speaking of spirits, Gentleman Jim Craddock offers an alternative– partnership in a life of crime and a kindness sorely needed after the beating life has thrown Ty. All things considered, what does she owe to anyone but herself. and what’s owed to Clint that couldn’t be delivered from the business end of a flintlock?

DARKSTARS: THE CORPS OF THE CONTROLLERS #5
    written by JORDAN CLARK
art & cover by ARIEL OLIVETTI
The Genesian Spring had barely begun before a newly augmented Darkstar Corps arrived to brutally suppress the excited masses. Numerous other interested parties arrived in the Vega System soon after, including representatives of the Cooperative, the Kherubim, the Cluster, and perhaps most appallingly, the Oans. Before most recorded history, the Metans had shared a bloodline and a home world, Maltus, with the supposed “Guardians of the Universe.” Yet, their universe never included Vega, and various unconvincing rationales had been offered. Was this to be the playpen of the Psions, the lizards whose evolution the Oans had toyed with and discarded? The Psions possessed a portion of their enormous intellect, but undeniably exceeded their creators in senseless cruelty in the name of scientific exploration. How patronizing to assume the Psions would spontaneously grow a conscience if left to their own devices. The Oans have more recently alluded to the embarrassing secret being that they gave the system to Larfleeze as a means of containing his avarice. This, as though an Orange Lantern knew bounds, or that Larfleeze himself was actually beyond their control. No, the Controllers are aware of their most distantly removed brethren’s truest betrayal of their creed, and would like nothing better than to shame them before their contemporaries…

However, the Genesian Spring has turned the tide against former Citadel collaborators, and discretion has never been a Gordanian strong suit. The scaly scum will have their own troubles getting off-world intact, especially now that the Controllers have revealed to the entire Vega System the grim depths on their severed ties to New Genesis. Tim goes undercover to navigate the deep shadows of the “Limbo-World” in pursuit of Cygnus and Strix, while Ladybird, Condor, and Bluejay try to secure a way off-world should he succeed.

    Cover by ETHAN VAN SCIVER
Former Green Lantern Hal Jordan descended into madness and left a path of death and destruction that changed the DC Universe forever. It’s been years since Jordan’s journey to the afterlife and the end of the Green Lantern Corps. But as the Torchbearer Kyle Rayner is about to find out, a new adventure of epic and mythological proportions is about to begin. The former “greatest” Lantern has seemingly returned to the land of the living as Parallax!
The Hivemind of the alien Draal sought to alter the timeline to reverse their near-extinction– aiming to instead become the dominant species in the cosmos by creating an evil duplicate of Hal Jordan to serve their ends. However, the duplicate was unable to resist possession by the Parallax entity, which compromised the project. Yes, a partially amnesiac and suicidally remorseful Hal Jordan perished reigniting the sun, but the Parallax duplicate lives to continue pursuing a timeline all its own.
The secret to Parallax’s defeat lies with another lost former Lantern, John Stewart, a captive of Fatality due for execution for his role in the destruction of Xanshi. That is, until Parallax confesses to a crime not fully “his” own.
This is the modern classic story of Green Lantern John Stewart’s triumphant return to the DC Universe, offered now in a new deluxe hardcover edition. Collects Green Lantern: Acquittal #1-6 plus Green Lantern Secret Files #1

With the U.S. withdrawal from The Dome Accord and rising para-militaristic feudalism among super powered beings breaching the boundaries of countries, the United Nations has shifted funding and resources to the successor organization Stormwatch. Decentralization is key to guarding the globe, so rather than relying on satellites and watchtowers, Stormwatch have embedded teams to defend every populated continent. Aboard the orbital SkyWatch, Weatherperson-5 has recently directed Stormwatch East to address invaders from Earth-3 in India, and is currently guiding Stormwatch Central against a legion of mind-controlled metahumans across several African nations.

Since the partial rising of the lost continent of Atlantis south of Greenland, metaphysical phenomenon have plagued the region. Among the partially unearthed city-states is Poseidonis, ruled by the tyrannical Emperor Orm and Queen Mera. With the death of Aquaman, rebel elements have been quashed, ultimately easing relations between Poseidonis and the United Nations.

800 miles northeast, at the former site of the City of the Golden Gate, the resurrected Ancient Atlantian sorcerer Garn Daanuth has begun summoning horrors from the depths that again threaten the dominion of the Ocean Master. While not a member nation, Poseidonis has agreed to host Stormwatch North to confront the Lord of Chaos before he can extend his reach to Iceland and beyond. Under the field leadership of Icon and with El Dorado serving as magic specialist, the debut mission of the North team’s Equinox, Iman, Jakita Wagner, Northwind, Jet, Centrix, & Bunker begins…

    cover by BRETT BREEDING
Fallen Angel variant cover by DAVID LOPEZ
Michael Henderson’s career with the Metropolis Metacrimes Division was upended by his investigation into the murder of Agent Liberty, and the high level government fallout that resulted. When the Jim Harper cloning matrix degraded to an unsalvagable degree, Michael saw the job offer from the Advanced Ideas Division to become a new Guardian as a chance to repurpose the skills he had developed for law enforcement. Unfortunately, his charge Jonathan Lane Kent has been compromised by The Changers, and Jon’s ritualistic sacrifice of Shawna Starsomething has caused the Spirit of Murder to embed within his own soul. Joined by The High and The Eidolon, The Superboy plots the wholesale slaughter of all metahumans. The question is, can The Guardian warn Strikeforce Superman without losing everything his second chance once offered?

    1. Gotta reiterate that I love the conceit of Gen52, and I guess it’s all down to who owns what, but Gen13 would have been a much better property to exploit than, say, Voodoo.

      1. I still don’t know if this is a legal thing or a The Atom thing– like Wildstorm is a bigger deal in my head than in reality. At one time, they were the lion’s share of Image’s business, but after nearly a decade & a half of mismanagement under DC, maybe it’s just that nobody cared by the time of the New 52? The impression I was under is that the majority of Wildstorm fans opposed integration into DC, and the DC fans never cared about the Wildstorm properties. From my retailing days, I remember that I was one of the few people that was a DC & Wildstorm guy, where most WS fans were more Image or even Marvel skewing. But I do think it’s telling that they keep going back to Grifter, who was never particularly strong a seller as a solo character. So much of Wildstorm was created by Jim Lee and/or Brandon Choi, and it was Choi with J. Scott Campbell driving Gen13 (I think Campbell created Freefall.) I wonder if Lee & Choi divvied up full rights, and Lee got Grifter, which is why DC keeps trying to make him happen.

        1. Yeah I think so. One of the most creatively corrupt things about the New52 is how, with Jim Lee in a senior management position, they forced the integration of stuff he owned into the DCU. I’m all for creators owning or having a stack in their characters, but when those same people get into positions where they can profit by making such decisions, while other creators don’t get a red cent from their characters going to TV or movies (which is very much still a case by case basis), it just feels gross. And guess what Jim Lee, it was annoying as hell to see those characters in the DCU and it doesn’t work. They always felt incompatible, and readers were burned before. Why care about a DC-driven THUNDER Agents, or Red Circle characters, or the Sovereign 7, when the creator can just pull them out at any time and banish all crossovers they appear in to un-reprintable limbo?

The only universe I’ve cared about getting folded into the DCU was Milestone, and even that’s not had very much success.

          1. Participation doesn’t work, because there will always be a bean counter who notices that the corporation has the optimal profit and control by using wholly company owned characters. Chuck Dixon likes to brag on how much money he makes off Bane, which is exactly why we don’t have those deals anymore, because how much of Bane’s success is through his iconic breaking of the bat? He’s luchador Killer Croc, but the iconic image of the backbreaker is why Bane makes it into outside media and Graham Nolan collects a royalty. Now when there’s integration efforts, the interactions are never meaningful, so why bother? Not that anyone is chomping at the bit to collect Magog, but The Shield was in most of that series. Keith Giffen will never collect another cent on that project because who wants to have to cut Archie a check? Also, frankly, the company is usually subsidizing a talent that couldn’t make it on their own, or else they would have. Meanwhile, Static Shock only happened because Milestone Media is a separate entity from DC, which is also why they’ll never be integrated.

Cyclotron will join the returning Freedom’s Ring, alongside Major Victory II, Silent Majority II, Sparkler II, and Mayflower II, the still suspicious Steve Trevor assuming command. Wanted for questioning and enforced isolation by I.O., Ray and the Hawks are shuffled into hiding by Blitzen & Donner. Targeted by Leviathan, Colonel Tomorrow reaches out to an associate in military intelligence. “Gravedigger” Anderson can offer an operative whose specialized anatomy may tolerate the Vertisol virus, Jared Kabe. Yet what the Ghost Patrol want more than anything is to track down eternal rest, as does their sole companion. Automan has outlived the Robocence, too diminutive to form relationships with the towering Wheeldebeasts and other animalistic robots that dominate the Metalzoic Age.
