  1. 1. nope ivy’s not in love with Batman that’s catwoman (and riddler’s) job
    2. does it say what clayface tastes like?
3 Fathers are a BIG thing with Waid .Superman,Batman Captain America…what if DAD was a superhero?

  2. Here’s a secret question?
I’ve bin reading teenage mutant ninja turtles
And they have cross overs with Batman . If tmnt
Ended up in the worlds finest comics who would they team up with and would you try two bring the Usagi character who belongs to other creator but is considered part of tmnt universe.

  3. I had considered mentioning panda khan or nobody essentially tmnt version of Batman .
He’s a police officer . Essentially Batman on budget. He’s in the 2003 tmnt cartoon and can be read in the best of tmnt collection vol. 6
I know this Batman but I thought you’d like to know tmnt has its own Batman and is a legacy hero

  4. Thanks for the sports shout out, fellas. Yes, I was listening. But, for the record, there are no other birds.

    Go Birds.

  5. Great episode and interesting LTODK story to cover.

Phil Sylvain and Ivy’s link to Jason (Floronic Man) Woodruff are from the Neil Gaiman Black Orchid miniseries. In that, Gaiman has all of DCs botanists – Isley, Sylvain, Woodrue, and even Alec Holland all studied at the same place. Sylvain definitely goes off the grid based on events we learned there.

As a big fan of Black Orchid, it was cool.to hear Sylvain’s name dropped. So I’ll need to.hunt these down.

  6. Chris and Ryan,
I am LOVING your coverage of Batman and Robin: Year One. I was able to buy the series over the course of a couple of sales, paying about $12.00 total, which is a steal given how wonderful the series is. Mark Waid continues the through line of most of his work, which is stories that celebrate what we love about characters while maintaining high stakes. And adding Samnee’s art….whew! Amazing!

I have another modern recommendation. A few years ago, DC did a series of prestige format one-shots called One Bad Day, each of which features a different villain. While the Riddler issue gets the most acclaim, and it is great, the Clayface issue is amazing! I can’t recommend it highly enough.

Keep up the great work! This is my favorite listen each month.

  7. Your conversation about Poison Ivy got me thinking. At the beginning she was this love sick weak female, as were most of the female characters then (and to this day I am still amazed they did not use her on Batman 66 – her first appearance was in April 1966). Anyway, it is amazing the evolution in her character in the 2000s, and not just as Harley’s girlfriend. She is a real interesting character in and of herself. I am behind on her current series but the fact that it has run so long speaks to this. For example she is the only character my daughter in law likes to read about!
Anyway, keep up the great work as always guys.
