  1. Thank you so much for having me on Fade Out to discuss Fred and Ginger, Rob! I thoroughly enjoyed our conversation and truly appreciate the work you do to keep film history alive. It’s so important to continue sharing these stories, and I’m grateful to be part of that through your podcast.

  2. Another great episode. Besides the holiday specials, I first remember noticing Fred Astaire as Starbuck’s “fake dad” in Battlestar Galactica but didn’t have any idea of his long movie history.

  3. Great episode, Rob. I enjoyed it very much.

My favorite Astaire/Rogers dance scene is the “Pick Yourself Up” number from Swing Time. Although arguably not their most dynamic dance routine and lyrically the song doesn’t fit the context of the scene (frankly, the actual singing is completely unnecessary), I love how dance is used to resolve the conflict of that moment and bring Lucky and Penny closer together. And the incidental banter between Helen Broderick and Victor Moore is very amusing: “You better pull a club sandwich out this hat!”
