  1. “So Tim, what’d you think of this episode?” None of your damn business.

Oh, I don’t mean that. This episode is hilarious, and yes, Coach’s bits with the “damn business” line are the home runs all the way. His attitude is so unexpected, that makes it even funnier.

Carla’s character is fascinating in this episode. In Season 1 Ep 15 “Father Knows Last”, Carla was set to trick a smart well-off guy into thinking he was her new baby’s father, which possibly would have resulted in marriage. Here, she has almost the same situation, except Ludlow actually IS the baby’s father, and she won’t take him up on marriage. Has she changed as a person? Did she learn her lesson from that previous episode? Does she truly care for Ludlow so much that she can’t take lie to him about her feelings, contradictory as the statement sounds?

And lastly, both episodes end with Carla given moral support from the bar. Awww.

Always great to hear you and Gene!

    1. Very good points, Tim. I think that Carla wasn’t in love with Ludlow. She had fun with him, but that’s really all it was. Knowing what a loveless marriage is like, she didn’t want to do that to either of them, so she backed off. Yes, it’s a switch from Season 1, but then I think she was in a bad place and really desperate for stability. Now she’s in a much better situation, having taken control of her life, so she’s able to think more rationally about it.
