  1. My ex-wife used to refer to the “boarding school where the children age fast” for soap operas where the child would be 3 one season and then back as a teen the next season and an adult the following season. Maybe Carla’s kids go to a reform school instead of a boarding school. 😀

  2. This is a unique episode. Carla is more likable than usual and Frasier is less likable.

We see Carla as a loving mother which we have rarely seen up to this point. She is not one of my favorite characters because she’s often gratuitously mean, but Rhea Perlman is a good actress because we see her more vulnerable side sometimes like in this episode.

By contrast Frasier is maybe my favorite character but we see a harsh side of him here. He’s always haughty but mostly in a funny way and he is usually self-aware enough to laugh at himself. But here he is overly tough with Ludlow at the restaurant and snaps at Carla too (which is somewhat out of character for Carla to tolerate). But Frasier gets his comeuppance and by the end he seems more like the old Frasier.

And it’s kind of a momentous ending with Lilith telling Frasier she’s pregnant. Here we are in 2024 and there is still an ongoing continuity featuring these characters on the new Frasier series with Frederick now in his 30s.
