I think Admiral William J. Crowe, Jr., Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the United States of America did a nice job for someone who’s not a professional actor.
Kirstie Alley looks like a hundred bucks (as Woody might say) in that dress, and also Ted Danson always looks sharp when he wears a tuxedo.
This episode definitely has the feel of a Sam and Diane episode, especially with the final scene in the office with the kiss and then Sam hearing Rebecca say “definite maybe.”
To me, the “special guest star” is a blight on an otherwise funny episode. It’s a total non sequitur and very distracting and I hate how every time this happens (on ANY show), every character bends over backwards to lick their boots as if all these people are fans of the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, much less know who they are and what they look like (Frasier has the most normal reaction here). And since this is a military/political “celebrity”, it’s even weirder that everyone would be, like, “love your work”.
