  1. Can’t wait to give this a listen. I’ve always felt JAWS 2 was a far better movie than it gets credit for.
Of course it’s not as good as the original. HIW COULD IT BE!?!
JAWS is one of the greatest movies ever made. It never had any chance of being even half as good.
Perhaps they should have introduced an entirely new cast and new setting, but, they did an excellent job with what they had.
The way the teens work together to stay alive during the final act is refreshing. They go from somewhat selfish teens who snipe at each other a bit, to a group that shows that when the excrement hits the fan, they’ve got each other’s backs. They’re determined to rescue Sean, when he’s adrift alone, and the mayor’s son Larry is even comforting to him when things look bleak.
So many movies use the trope of self preservation and back stabbing in these situations.
    The poster is great too!

  2. Happy 4th of July from Cape Cod, where the great white sharks roam. It’s been a while since I last saw Jaws 2, but I thoroughly enjoyed your commentary track.

At one point, I believe you guys mentioned the whiteness of this movie in relation to it being set on an island that is meant to represent Martha’s Vineyard. That reminded me of an interesting bit of trivia. Martha’s Vineyard has long been a popular vacation spot for affluent African Americans, because, for a long time, it was one of only a handful of beach locations that welcomed them.
