  1. Great discussion fellas. I haven’t seen this one for a while, and this made me want to rewatch it. I remember seeing a mini-documentary somewhere that posited that Lazenby had fallen in with some late sixties Svengali-type who was basically brainwashing folks into follwing his hippie-movement, and that’s one reason he rejected Bond so quickly.

It’s funny that you pointed out that he was no Marlon Brando…because he played a very Brando-like Jor-El on the Superboy TV series!

I haven’t watched as much Avengers as I would like, but I have read several histories on the series. Rigg had left the show by this point, and she replaced Steed’s original female partner…Honor Blackman!

  2. Great commentary as always. So…I couldn’t finish movie. I stopped right when he put the flower in Tracy’s mouth. And they lived happily ever after. That final scene is the only scene that stuck with me since seeing it with my dad about 40yrs ago. And I never watched it in its entirety till now. Thanks for giving me the courage. Can’t wait for next one

  3. Great discussion, gents! One Lazenby documentary I found fascinating (and entertaining) was 2017’s Becoming Bond, which I think is available on at least Apple TV and Hulu.

I’m not engaging with Dr. Lewis and his dismissal of Die Hard. I’m not qualified to fix crazy. But I do share the appreciation you both have for this film.

My only other comment is that I never before imagined a gym at the Joe Kubert School. “Listen up, class. This is important! If you do these exercises faithfully, they will mitigate the damage you do to your bodies by spending 14 hours a day at a drawing table! Don’t you want to live to be as old as Professor Joe?”

    1. Captain-

JKS was (and is) located in a former high school, so it had all the normal stuff that kind of building would have. Trust me, none of us Mole People ever used the gym for anything remotely resembling what could be called “athletic.”

  4. I’m also a OHMSS stan, so fun show. I didn’t watch the movie with you because I’m planning on watching it with friends soon. Nath and I watched them all some years ago (around the time of the Anniversary), and now we’re talking about an annual marathon of a few films each year (on 7/07? or could be sooner). Anyway, didn’t want to spoil my fun.
