  1. I really dig those variant covers by Joshua Middleton. Great stuff!

I want to say the Shaggy Man was introduced in the first arc of the New 52 JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA by Geoff Johns and David Finch prior to the “Trinity War” crossover. If not, he might have appeared in a one-panel flashback scene of a previous Justice League adventure.

    1. That is indeed where he first showed up in the New 52. I’m not sure what (if anything) happened pre-Flashpoint that made Shaggy man and Wade Eiling separate entities again, but they were both very different in the New 52.

  2. I never saw Nanny and the Professor either but was aware of the show – until this year! Episodes of this Bewitched/I Dream of Jeanie knock-off are being rerun on the GetTV channel (similar to MeTV) & also on Hulu:

  3. Fun episode. Remember I was buying Firestorm at this point so I remember the Slipknot and his rawhide rope. I never did understand the feedback issue with it being organic either. This was even more maddening when the answer could have been something as dumb as ‘the monitor gave me a special rope that you can’t effect’.

    1. Even with that, Firestorm would still have to forget that he can go intangible at will to make Slipknot any kind of threat.

  4. I was stumped by Slipknot’s twisted ankle in the otherwise great “Lord of the Dance” panel on page 20, but I think I have it figured out. He’s supposed to be twisting his lower body, with his left leg closest to the reader, and his right leg in the background. But Kayanan should have drawn in a butt-cheek or something to show we were looking at his rear-end. His slick, all-black, no highlight design worked against him here.

  5. What gives? Ryan calls me hacky. I get uninvited from that South Carolina convention. What’s with the treatment? I’m not Diablu Frank. I’m one of the good guys.

  6. Is the shower bit a running gag with Firestorm? Ronnie getting fused into Firestorm while in the shower happens here and also in Legends. If it happens too much, he might just start showering in a bathing suit.

    1. Ronnie is secretly a germaphobe. His hands are raw from washing too much. Coming soon in a very special issue of The Fury of Firestorm, the Nuclear Man, guest-starring Gordon Jump.

  7. The idea that Firestorm couldn’t affect organics was NEVER handled consistently. My favored explanation is along the lines of what they suggested in the Eden storyline during the blank slate era: that the limitation was more mental than physical, especially in regard to sentient beings. Basically, Firestorm couldn’t affect organics only because he *believed* he couldn’t….

Of course, the Eden storyline also led to the ludicrous explanation for why the Elemental Firestorm *stopped* using his transmutational powers, which has been rightly forgotten.

I couldn’t find where you posted the Back to the Future mash-up. It sounds amazing! Could you point me in the right direction?

  8. Aw, c’mon guys! It’ll be great to do that Firestorm / Aquaman retrospective and guidelines episode! Rob, you can always get that Ryan Daly guy to help — I hear he’s not doing anything with his time…
