  1. I saw this episode and my first reaction was “Bob covered Must Be Santa!?!?!?”.

The song is well known to my family and I after my wife bought a Christmas CD about 20 years ago. The CD featured various artists, the usual 40’s and 50’s crooners, but the standout track was easily Must Be Santa by British songstress Alma Cogan who covered it in 1960, the year it first debuted from Mitch Miller.

Her version also has a frenetic pace and includes a bunch of kids who are trying to keep up with the answer parts. This song instantly became a hit with my family and it is the musical equivalent of the movie Elf, being that thing that has to be part of our Christmas celebrations every year.

Alma had a short career and life which is kind of a bummer considering the kick we’ve gotten from this song for so many years.

  2. I didn’t think I knew this song, but now that I heard it at the end, I think The Wiggles covered this! My son went through an obsessive period with the Wiggles. Hey, it could have been Barney, so I ain’t complanin’!

I’m a sucker for Christmas music. I like Bing, Sinatra, Perry Como…all of those guys. My mom ingrained it in me. But I also love the odd rock Chrismas song or album. So I may have to give this a try. I’m definitely going to look up the video. You guys sold me!

    Chris
