  1. It was fun to hear two enthusiastic and knowledgeable fans discussing this song together.

I found myself empathizing with the two of you as you discussed this and other “unfinished” Dylan songs that were never truly completed for one reason or another. While I’m not a big Dylan fan, I do love Tolkien, and he had a similar habit of leaving a trail of unfinished works behind him. His son Christopher Tolkien has published quite a few of those stories over the years, and, while I enjoy reading the various fragments and versions that exist, it still breaks my heart to imagine what could have been, if those stories had been completed.

I guess for some artists a piece of work is never completed, and it continues to grow and evolve even as they do.

  2. Great, great guest. I love it when any guest makes Rob rethink his opinions on a song. And with every episode I listen to, I get closer to pulling the trigger on my own music-related series.
