“The only thing I know about ‘Thunder Road’ is that it’s a GARTH BROOKS song.”–Gene Hendricks
Wow! Gene’s been out of New Jersey for like three months and he’s already blotted all the NJ stuff from his memory. Is that what happens?
I was never much of a Springsteen fan, so that was easy. 😉
And I was also mistaken. “The Thunder Rolls” is a Garth Brooks song. It sounds lose, which is why my mind made the connection.
I dunno. I don’t expect it to be cold when I go outside anymore. Is that a Florida thing? I remember waiting until I went outside to cool down after wearing too many sweaters or something.
This episode of Cheers was not significant to the characters in a long-term way. But dang, it has some of my favorite moments!
“Say Norm, don’t they make a wonderful couple?” Yes Ryan, I remember that bit from ads as well.
Cliff and Norm speaking in Wookie, after the opening credits. I thought it was innovative to continue the scene like that. I can’t recall that happening before on any comedy TV show. For a drama, sure. But not comedy.
“Agh.” “What’s wrong, Coach? Wrong name?” “No, wrong bank.” “Pfff. (slowly walks after the gang with his beer.)” George Wendt was just fantastic.
“Dianne, you’re gonna miss Thunder Road!” Ah, Coach.
And last not least, the entire bit of Norm sitting on the steps for Sam and Dianne to open the bar, then waiting at the front for the “Norm!” Oh god, it’s so perfect!
Thanks to Michelle for joining the podcast! Good job and enjoyed hearing what you enjoyed on the episode. I wish I could help out getting more women participation, but alas, I’m the only Cheers fan in my house.
Till next time!
