To answer Tim’s question about the popularity of certain Disney characters, Timon and Pumbaa had their own spin-off cartoon series from 1995-1999. Remember, the “Disney Afternoon” was a pretty big deal back in the 90s, and just about every successful Disney movie at the time had some sort of cartoon series spin-off. The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, Hercules, Timon and Pumbaa, The Mighty Ducks…all of these were cartoons that appeared, to varying degrees of success. Adding to all that, the third (1 1/2?) Lion King movie was a Timon and Pumbaa focused film. So yeah, they are/were popular enough to have been considered their own franchise, I guess.
