I expect some are waiting for me to make a declaration about the French in this episode.
It is ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE. Eddie is almost incomprehensible, and his mother, while she does better, is still not a native French speaker, and what she approximates is a French accent rather than a Quebec one.
Fun discussion. My favorite comedic bits are (1) Frasier’s “You rapscallions” line and (2) Woody continuing to whistle after Carla tries to bring him down by saying how awful everything is. It feels like Woody is intentionally messing with Carla by continuing to whistle — he gets that mischievous look in his eyes and moves his arms as he’s walking. I think Woody the actor is transcending what is written in the script and making the character have an edge. I like how Woody Harrelson adds this extra dimension to Woody Boyd as we go deeper into the Rebecca years.
