  1. It’s good to see a serious moment of Sam talking about his father. Sam is pretty funny in the office scenes too.

But overall I didn’t think the episode was quite as funny as some this season. The jokes about Rebecca talking to herself were not laugh out loud funny. The episode didn’t feature the ensemble as well as usual. Woody and especially Frasier weren’t used enough. It was really a Sam and Rebecca episode without a B plot. Plus some of Sam’s behavior is very cringeworthy by today’s standards (although I do give him credit for apologizing to Rebecca, and at least he never hit on his secretary). So I’d rate this as a mid-level episode in comparison to the other stellar episodes this season.

  2. A rare pretty straight up Heel turn for Evan. Why didn’t he just straight up offer Sam a cushy job in exchange for playing on the company softball team for a few weeks? Who wouldn’t happily take the pay bump and play if just asked? The handshake coming so quickly was a great comedic beat.

Also loved Rebecca’s joy/shame/shame at feeling joy rollercoaster when trying to break the news to Sam. Diane nailed her when she described her as the emotional equivalent to Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride.
