Another great episode, Rob. You and Melissa had a great conversation highlighting the limited, although interesting directing career of Elaine May.
Personally, I’ve always felt May’s greatest strength is in here writing and the flexibility it has to allow improvisation. I would argue that the final scene in The Heartbreak Kid that lauded so much is actually more about the writing than about the directing, although May had the wherewithal as a director to just let the scene happen as written or improvised based on the writing.
Anyway, I hear the new movie May is directing with Dakota Johnson has indeed changed its title. It is now called Madame Web 2: Arachnoid Boogaloo.
