This was a fun episode! It got me to thinking: Is there a contemporary actress who is the modern equivalent to Thelma Ritter?
I haven’t been able to come up with any contenders.
Another great episode where I learned a lot. Another great actress who was “always” there in the movies I’ve watched yet never really thought about her. It’s inexcusable that I haven’t paid more attention to Thelma Ritter since I try to champion actors like Elisha Cook Jr, Brion James, Joan Cusack, and Dean Norris. Actors that regularly give great performances, never get the spotlight and become the familiar faces that most people can never name. Thelma Ritter truly deserved the recognition given here.
I don’t think Elisha Cook and Thelma Ritter ever did a movie together, what could have been!
Fortunately she was in The Misfits with Eli Wallach giving me an easy Magnificent Seven Degrees!
Looking forward to listening. I thought her scene here provides a career bookend in George Seaton movies.
