To celebrate the 90th anniversary of the first print publication of THE SHADOW, the Fire and Water Podcast Network proudly presents a dramatic reading of one of the Dark Knight Detective’s more unusual adventures, “The Batman Confronts Gray Face” narrated by Xum Yukinori. This prose story, written by Shadow creator Walter B. Gibson with illustrations by Tom Yeates, originally appeared in DETECTIVE COMICS #500. Hear the story now, as only Xum could read it.
Special thanks to Isamu Hideaki-Yukinori and Adrian Zet for their editing work on this episode. Music for the Batman segment composed by Shigeru Umebayashi. Additional music by Jerry Goldsmith.

My thanks to everyone involved — Isamu, Adrian, Ryan, Xum, anyone helping anonymously. Even if we still had Xum with us, this episode would have a lot going for it — a pulpy adventure of unique provenance, excellent music and sound, and Xum’s mellifluous voice and compelling delivery. But I think I appreciate every aspect of the Xum episodes more because I know the supply is finite. Thank you again for the entertainment and for the reminder of Xum.
What he said.
Also, I saw who composed the music. I assume it was sampled from movie soundtracks. May we know which ones?
