I LOVED V-UK: Visitation… a stylish update/retelling of a classic story. Can’t wait to hear the next installment! Big Finish have done Kenneth Johnson proud.
I love V and I always wondered what might have happened in the non US locations. So this adaptation had crossed my radar… but your coverage shows it’s not just what the UK was dealing with in the 80s but a full reboot / restart and you’ve convinced me to seek this out when I get the time to listen to it.
I am way way behind on my comments for the previous episodes but I have really enjoyed every episode I’ve heard! Keep up the good work!
So much of the pop culture that I loved was unknown to most of my middle school classmates back in the mid-1980s. But V was something that I remember a lot of us talking about at school when it aired, especially the childbirth scene. And my wife tells the story of having a bad sunburn on her arm and, when she was asked about it, she said that she “was pregnant w/ a lizard baby”.
This episode made me realize just how much Kenneth Johnson is responsible for so many shows that were integral to my developing fandom as a kid. I was a dedicated viewer of The Incredible Hulk, The Six-Million Dollar Man, and The Bionic Woman as well as V. A little research revealed that he was also behind a series called Cliffhangers that 8-9 year old me was really excited about that lasted all of about two months.
What an interesting project, and also an odd one – why not either tell us what was happening in the UK when the original US version was going on or go with the update and have it be an entirely new occupation in the UK?
It was nice to hear Steve, mind, I can’t believe you said Steve a ‘big git’ at the end… oh hang on, I relistened, ‘big get’.
Mr Johnson sounds a splendid fella.
I’ve no knowledge of V but it sounds like the big finish version is good . I’m big fan of big finish especially there Gerry Anderson and Doctor and Sherlock Holmes series ,
If I may make two suggestions do find your joy .
1. Find your joy three stooges meet Snow White with the new Snow White movie coming out I think this might be a good for you and maybe the Franklin’s or Frank .
2. Find your joy Tobar the 8th man japans original Robocop it a anime series maybe you could watch the first episode then you and a guest could each pick a random episode and talk about it . Just some ideas for you have a great day .
