Props to Cindy for including SPIDER-MAN: INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE in her list of Top 5 superhero movies. When I heard the question asked, I figured that movie would probably make my list, so I was ecstatic to hear Cindy mention it, too.
Fun episode, and happy anniversary, you crazy kids!
Spider-Verse could float into my Top 5 at any minute as well. Just a great, groundbreaking movie.
I’m really not sure why I picked Logan. Great movie, and emotionally stirring, but not anything I’m going to watch over and over. As I said, these lists change by the hour.
Chrongratulations Chrindy!
Don’t… don’t… don’t do that.
In Hix’s defense, he was doing that back when no one knew who the Doom Patrol was.
Chris
Thanks for the many great episodes over the years & happy anniversary! Your vacations sound more fun than anything my family did when I was a kid. It’s nice to hear your banter.
Don’t feel bad Chuck. I had a great childhood, but we essentially never took a vacation when I was young. We took one trip to Metropolis, IL when I was 16, because I basically begged my parents.
So I’m making up for lost time, in a lot of ways.
Chris
Congratulations on the anniversary – here’s to many more shows.
Otherwise, listening to your fun, uber-geek conversation made me realize how much I miss a more regular schedule for your free-form Super Mates shows. Will we really have to wait until autumn for more?
By the way, when the question of best Trek romances came up, pretty much the first one that came to mind was Troi and Riker – them getting together again and eventually marrying may have been fan service, but I see it differently: they grew and matured, built their careers, explored relationships with others and then, at a more mature point in their lives, came to the realization that they were in fact meant for each other.
You know Edo, I really enjoyed recording this episode, and I think Cindy did too. Maybe Super Mates can come back more often in a format similar to this. One that doesn’t require as much work, like we put into JLUCast.
Something to think about!
And I tend to agree with you on Troi and Riker!

Top 5 Things I Love About SMP:
1–Cindy’s General Air of IDGAF
2–When Cindy says she “owes ___________” which sounds like a good thing for the person she names, but is actually terrifying
3–Dani’s outro
4–Chris’ Tales of High School Gossip
5–That This Show Is Part of the Network
Happy Anniversary! All this episode needed is that DC “Anniversary” logo done in gold ink.
1. It’s one of her endearing traits
2. Be afraid. Be very afraid.
3. I miss her sounding like that. 🙁
4. I could do a whole episode!
5. Thanks for having us!
I thought about the “Anniversary” logo, but Xum used it to great effect for the Marvel 80th/FW 3rd anniversary, so I thought it would be too repetitive.
Chris
Thanks for sharing your podcast anniversary with us!
Thanks for listening as always, Ward!
What a fun show. It was like sitting around listening to you chat with each other. And then at the end, I am HONORED that the Japanese Wonder Woman PR sheet I picked up for you made your list. 🙂 The next time I go back I’ll try to find you more Wonder Woman Japanese merchandise, just to see what’s out there.
Here’s to five more years!!
Thanks again Russell! It is indeed one of Cindy’s favorite pieces, and sits proudly beside her Hot Toys Gal Gadot Wonder Woman!
