  1. THE moment of the movie. This scene was expertly paced and marks the time the movie made Superman believable.

The pimp thing I could have done without. I think there are maybe four people of color prominently shown in Metropolis, and three of them are in the vice trade. It’s of it’s time, sure, but such a mark on an otherwise wonderful scene.

As for your host, you got yourselves a bona fide professional expert! Well done!

  2. Biggest 5 minutes of the movie. Awesome!

Great to hear Michael on the show. It was a treat to meet him at a small con this year. Such a nice guy!

Maybe this has been mentioned before. I just got a copy of “Superman in the Seventies”, with a forward by Christopher Reeve, where he wrote, “It was my pleasure to play Superman – or perhaps more accurately, to be the custodian of the character – in the 1970s.” That sums up his respect for the role and performance he gave in the movies. So much class.

  3. Back in 7th or 8th grade speech class we did a movie review video project. We were to do a Siskel and Ebert type of review that last about 10-15 minutes. I did a comic book movie themed version and this clip from Superman was the key video I used. This scene really does capture the greatness of the film and Reeve’s embodiment of the character. Great discussion as always!
