Lis and Vera take a look at the second volume of Kamala Khan’s original run as Ms. Marvel. With the new Disney+ series out there’s no better time than now to revisit a character we tackled early in the life of this podcast! Plus now there’s a giant bulldog!

It was good to hear you revisiting one of the series you covered back near the start of the show. My daughter and I have just started watching the Ms. Marvel series on Disney+ (watched Episode 3 last night), and we are both enjoying it. Initially, my daughter was a little disappointed at the change in Kamala’s power set and origin, but the reveal that her powers were innate and didn’t come from the bangle itself helped her move past that.
Also, if you want to double down on the cuteness factor, then might I recommend the Marvel Rising franchise, which included both Lockjaw and Tippy-Toe on a team, along with Ms. Marvel, Squirrel Girl and other young female and BIPOC heroes. The franchise, which ran from 2018-2019, included two comic books and a series of animated movies and shorts. Unfortunately, I don’t think it qualifies for coverage on this show, because there are a couple of boys on the team. 😛
Thanks for another excellent episode.
