  1. I absolutely love this maxi-series as it presents the DCU with the versions of its heroes & villains that I like best. I bought it as it came out and am have been re-reading the absolute edition this week in anticipation of JLMay.

    I guess it was the Challenge of the Superfriends that hooked me on the DC characters in the first place and this series is a love letter to my childhood. I told this to Ross when he signed my absolute edition at C2E2 several years ago. Whenever I see Ross art on a comic cover I purchase it. In my office I am surrounded by it too. I’ve got the JLA & Avengers group shots giclee posters on the walls as well as his 1940s JSA one too.

    FYI: Ross just sat for an hour long interview on the Wordballoon podcast where he discusses the “state of the superhero genre.” You can listen to it on Youtube:

    There is also an exhibit of original Ross artwork now on display at the Museum of the Shenendoah Valley in VA. It’s also been shown at the Norman Rockwell and Andy Warhol museums. Here’s a video from the Rockwell:
