  1. Rogue: I first came into contact with Rogue when she was working for Mystique, so I default to picturing her in her original costume, but the 90’s bomber-jacket look has become iconic. (I’m also predisposed to like that because my favorite era of Avengers is the bomber jacket team.)

Scarlet Witch: “It’s sort of like Satanic, but in a cool way” has got to be the quote of the episode. 😀 Yes, that original headpiece is kind of odd, but it was a Kirby design so that follows. Wanda has never looked better than under John Byrne’s pencil, in my opinion.

Scorpion: He’s a goof that always looks weird, regardless of what he’s wearing.

Sentinels: They’re robots so that really gives the artist a lot of freedom. Why do they look different this time? New model.

Sersi: Bomber jacket for the win! (See Rogue above)

Shadowcat: Kitty has had A LOT of looks (almost up there with The Wasp), but I’ve always liked the blue outfit she had in OHOTMU the best.

Shag-Chi: They’re all variations on his original gi, but I still like the original the best.

She-Hulk: It’s hard for Jen to not look good, but I like her basic purple & white leotard the best. As with Wanda, Byrne made her look amazing but he also gave her more of a personality than just “angry female”.

Black Lightning: I will bow to Time Priest’s wisdom on this one, but I like the blue & gold/bald look best for Jefferson.

Black Orchid: Again I will bow to the expert, Dr. Anj, but I think her original look is the best. Unless you want to see her in her Supergirl identity. 😉

Black Racer: It’s a Kirby character so you really need a Kirby design. The newest version just doesn’t look right.

Blue Devil: Paging Shag & Frank (the resident Blue Devil experts). Again, the original design has nothing wrong with it, but the t-shirt and jeans look fits with the character. That full demonic look just makes me ask “Why?”

Brainiac: I’ve always liked what the Post-Crisis version became (not the original Milton “don’t you like my pink jumpsuit” Fine, but the black suit/purple cape version). As for the character himself, it doesn’t get better than the STAS one.

Brainiac 5: I’m not a Legion (or L.E.G.I.O.N.) guy, so this character never appealed to me. All of these just look like he’s got one color scheme in is closet.

Bronze Tiger: Bomber Jacket. Nuff Said.

Brother Blood: “I now look like a literal demon. Why do you doubt my church is all about peace and love?”

  2. This was a delight!

I do like She-Hulk’s “Gray She-Hulk” look, especially the extra muscle she put on, but I think it should have been a new character, not Jen Walters.

  3. Not much to add, but I always enjoy these. It’s great to hear the Girls’ reactions, and I always see a few outifts I never knew existed. Like Kitty’s first non-X-Men uniform. UGH! And her Kitterine getup!

The Romany Scarlet Witch outfit was a stroke of genius on George Perez’s part. But he was a genius, so that makes sense. But Wanda getting that costume when the Avengers went back to medeival times, then keeping it? Chef’s kiss.

I have a soft spot for the red/brown and blue Black Lightning outfit due to having the Total Justice figure.

I didn’t care for the Blue Devil swerve into actually being a demon, but the Shadowpact look was fine. But it is indeed all very Hellboy.

  4. Great episode. I love these.

Rogue: I like the hooded/Ranger look best as it adds some mystery to her which I think suits her well. But no Savage Land Rogue discussion??? A close second for me.

Black Orchid: Chuffed to be called the expert above! But her original is the best, including the mystery about her origin/powers/etc. Vertigo was okay … but just okay.

  5. I wish you could have shown pics of everyone that has been in live action like Shang- Chi, Bronze Tiger from Arrow, Brother Blood from Titans, Brainiac from Krypton.

  6. I completely forgot about Rogue’s 80s fashion orange sweater dress thing. She’s looks like she was on Dynasty and I dig it.

That Perez Scarlet Witch costume is ridiculous. The one with the X-Men in the panel looks like a scene from Wanda Maximoff Attorney at Law….or Legally Scarlet.

I now want to hear Sentinel robot versions of songs from Canadian singers.

You can totally tell that Bronze Tiger and Black Lightning ate their potatoes.

My favorite moment: “Who laughs at you?” “Some of the people sitting around this table!”
