Super Mates 120: House of Franklin-Stein Part 4 Gallery

House of Wax reissue poster from 1971 is far superior to the original…although it looks like Carolyn Jones brought along the Addams Family house!

See what I mean? Where’s Vincent Price? The Can-Can Dancers…really? Looks like a totally different film

1983 reissue looks like an 80s slasher!

Recent DVD cover (the version I own) isn’t too shabby. Marie Antoinette seems to be haunting Price…which is pretty accurate!

Example of the awesome titles. Look at that font!

Profesor Jarrod (Vincent Price), Sidney Wallace (Paul Cavanagh) and Bruce Allison (Phillip Tonge) admire Jarrod’s masterpiece, Marie Antoinette.

Nightmare fuel image of a melting wax figure from the film’s opening sequence. You’re welcome!

Price as the now disfigured Jarrod, with excellent makeup by Gordon Bau.

The resurrected Jarrod tells of his new, horror-fueled House of Wax, with a young Charles Bronson as Igor.

Sgt. Shane (Dabs Greer) and Detective Brennan (Frank Lovejoy) investigate the House of Wax, while the waxen figure of Burke (Roy Roberts) swings in the background.

“What’s in the box?!”” No, not the head of Gweneth Paltrow, but a wax head of Sue (Phyllis Kirk).

While looking for her lame boyfriend, Sue (Phyllis Kirk) finds some creepy stuff in the House of Wax workshop.

Sue discovers her friend Cathy (Carolyn Jones) was more than just the model for Joan of Arc.

Jarrod plans to give Sue immortality through his figure of Marie Antoinette.Seems perfectly reasonable!

Cover to The Phantom Stranger #16 (Nov/Dec. 1971) by Neal Adams

The aptly named Tallow tours his yet to open Wax Museum. Not only do we see the two burglars who tried to rob him, but the House of Mystery’s Cain, and Sargon the Sorcerer! Note the Phantom Stranger’s shadow at the bottom of the page!

The Stranger saves Dalia and uses actual magic on camera!

Dalia ain’t into this whole “sleep for centuries in a wax figure” thing.  Look at Aparo do Kirby Krackle!

Ernie Drapper can’t understand why his fiance doesn’t recognize him. He’s about to get REALLY agitated about it.

We learn what Dalia SHOULD look like after centuries. No amount of moisturizer is going to fix THAT.

The downer ending!
