Even though Toad is kind of depressing, it brought back fond memories of drinking maple bourbon cocktails and talking Frog Man vs Toad on the Fantastic Pour with Shotgun. She was a wonderful guest!
I think the Game of Thrones character you were thinking of that was reminiscent of the tomorrow man was Ilya Payne. He was the creepy bald executioner guy who chopped off Ned Stark’s head.
Great show as always!
So weird that Ditko drew Toad, but wouldn’t touch any Spider-Man characters. I can’t remember, did he draw any Dr. Strange characters ever again, for OHOTMU or otherwise?
I’m dense sometimes. I thought the reason you played “Tomorrow” from Annie was because Tomorrow Man looked like Daddy Warbucks. Geez. He looks like an alternate Lex Luthor too, especially with all the green.
I was waiting for the Piss Pot Pete joke, and the gals didn’t disappoint.
I fished a lot as a boy and younger man, and we did often eat what we caught, so I handled a lot of fish. I don’t really recall the scales coming off easily? They were kind of booger to get off, actually! Maybe we have heartier fresh-water fish in Kentucky? Either way, nice to see Triton get a hot, and good on the girls for calling out the Creature from the Black Lagoon.
Chris Franklin, 24 years old.
I adore that Misfits issue of Spider-Man, and it made me care about the Toad as a character. Ever since, he’s either been “EVIL” or just uninteresting. Ah well.
Last month, it was Tinkerer, and now Trapster, both from the same issue I covered recently. One detail about his new sprayers, in order to counteract his paste if needed, the other sprayer shoots … a super lubricant. Yes, he called it super lubricant. That’s being prepared for a hot date, especially now I can’t unsee his booty shorts under the boots.
I was the Time Priest’s deacon for that episode! We had a great time discussing Captain America, working class super-villains, and the Under Siege storyline by Roger Stern. The issue really is a great representation of the Trapster and the Tinkerer.
I have no memory whatsoever of the Tomorrow Man or Tower. I may have missed this issue of OHOTMU, which means this show educated me while it entertained me. I don’t know how I’ll use the newfound knowledge, so as usual for this show, the entertainment was the important part. Thank you as always!
It’s true, put leather trousers on The Trapster and he becomes sexy. Speaking of Pete, a minor correction, Siskoid – it wasn’t another 20 years before he changed his name, it was, er, two. He debuted as Pete in Strange Tales in 1963 and changed his name in the Fantastic Four in 1965. I must thank you though, going onto Marvel Unlimited to check things out led me into a Fantstic Four-shaped rabbithole that took up my entire Saturday afternoon, and I loved it.
I wonder why the Handbook entry didn’t show Pete’s original look from his first encounter with the Torch, it was blooming ridiculous, and I think the Hot Squad would have loved it. Facially, he looks nothing like the bruiser from the FF. Strange Tales #104, if anyone is so inclined.
Yeah, and I read all of Stan’s issues of FF a couple years ago, so I should have remembered. All I can say is that “Paste-Pot Pete loomed so large in my later Marvel reading that I thought for sure it was a more recent development.
I did show the Girls the beret outfit during the week following (as I’m not gonna spend time on him in the Fashion special).
