Wait, there was a Cheers regular named Jack Knight that disappeared at some point?
Damn you Flashpoint!!!
Fun episode. Its funny that you mention the out-of-the-ordinary bar shots, because even though I was basically a casual Cheers viewer at best (something I keep planning on rectifying soon), I can SEE the layout of the bar in my mind, and it works. Often TV show set layouts make zero sense, especially compared to the exterior shots!
Chris
Body shame your kids much, Carla?
Open Grave happens to be my usual drink. When I’m in the mood for something different, I’ll have a Screaming Viking. Here’s the recipe for an open grave:
1/2 oz. Jack Daniels
1/2 oz. Bacardi
1/2 oz. Myers Rum
1/2 oz. Southern Comfort
1/2 oz. Peach Schnapps
Splash Pineapple Juice
Splash Orange Juice
Splash Grenadine
This is a real drink? I thought it was just something they made up for the show.
Fun Fact: we find out in season 2 that Carla had her next child at St. Eligius Hospital.
It wasn’t that unusual that the first season was on only the bar set. So many sitcoms of the era were staged like plays and although they started shifting to other sets, ALL IN THE FAMILY, JEFFERSONS, BARNEY MILLER and GOOD TIMES among others gravitated mostly around their main set.
St. Eligius. Ah, the cross-marketing machine at work.
Little bit of weirdness with the story. Diane says to Sam “I understand Gino is a fine young lad.” Sam, “Which one is he?” Then in the office scene, Sam’s laughing implies he remembers exactly who Gino is. Sure, I could no-prize it, and it’s not the sort of thing that jumps out on a first viewing, but even the second time through makes you go “hmmmm”. Yes, I’m being picky to a show that was just starting and didn’t have aspirations of being watched for 30 years.
Definitely Carla’s episode all the way. A great chance to solidify her into the character we came to know.
