If you’re not following CheersCast, you still owe it to yourself to listen to Sean’s birth story.
Oh is this “tell the birth of your children episode?” Well sure, but I’ll put it out there that I hope some of the mom’s listening to the show post their stories, so it’s not just us men, the spectators.
We have twins, and multiples are not delivered naturally by convention. Rather they plan a C-section for a specific date. My wife really took care of herself and was active all up to the day before the planned date, including taking care of her horse which she kept at her mother’s place. That day, she squatted to check on her horse’s hooves, and that made her water break. She hurried to the house to wrap herself in a towel, called me since I was an hour away for work, called a friend to drive her to the hospital, started having contractions on the drive, when I arrived we went straight into surgery, and our girls were delivered 12 hours before the planned C-section. They always put multiples in incubators to start because they’re smaller, but not for long because ours were in good shape. Another tidbit, a second mother had her scheduled C-section for twins earlier that morning, so this was the first time that hospital had 2 sets of twins born the same day.
For the disparate stories, I feel like that’s a strength of this episode. Random stuff overlapping in an interesting way can be very satisfying, instead of having all story points connect all the time. The chaos of life is very funny to me, and this one does that excellently.
Sean is rolling thru the F&W shows! Always good to hear him!
Tim,
That’s a great story! I’m the uncle of two sets of twins, so I know how twin births can be a bit more complicated.
It’s fun to hear the birth stories of our podcasting community!
