  1. Wow, what a great rundown of Bancroft’s career! (Otherwise, I was wondering how you could get an almost a 2-hour on Heartbreakers).
Needless to say, I share the fondness for Bancroft, although I’ve not seen nearly as many of her movies as you both – I really want/need to see more of them.
Otherwise, though, it’s nice to hear that some other people appreciated, say, To Be or Not To be, which I really enjoyed, and, especially, Home for the Holidays, which I think is a very underappreciated gem (and yes, Foster is a very capable director, and Rob: I first saw Little Man Tate in its initial theatrical run as well).
And I share your general consensus on Heartbreakers, by the way. Given the stellar cast, it seems like it should have been awesome, but the best I can say about it is that it’s watchable (maybe if the script had been rejiggered to expand Bancroft’s role it would have been better).

    1. Thanks for listening Edo!

I decided a while back that I didn’t want to let the show get too constrained by its format; so when the final film in question just doesn’t merit a really in-depth discussion, then it can cover more of the whole career. Thanks to Savannah, I got to see so many interesting films with Anne Bancroft that I knew I wanted to give them some attention on the show.

  2. A terrific subject, a terrific guest and a terrific host make for a terrific show. Anne Bancroft made a lot of films I need to see, especially Don’t Bother To Knock and Nightfall.

I once saw Miss Bancroft on a UK chat show, host Terry Wogan was pretty much the nicest man in broadcasting but she had a terrible experience, she was visibly uncomfortable; apparently no one had told the show was live, she found out just before going on and it really threw her.

Looking down the cast of Fatso on IMDb, Rob, I bet you noticed one of the voices of an actor when you were watching it – Sal Viscuso (Vito) was one of the two regular PA announcers on M*A*S*H.

    1. Thanks for listening Martin! I came across that live TV anecdote in the AB biography, There were so many great stories, I wish we had had time to get to more of them.

And yes, Sal Viscuso was in FATSO. He was quite busy in the 70s and 80s!
