Franklins,
Congrats on the series! Sad to see it go, but always looking forward to what you’ve got cooking.
Thanks Dave! We’ll keep the kitchen open!
I want to congratulate you both on an incredible and dedicated march through both of these series’ coverage.
A formatted index podcast can be taxing, in enthusiasm, scheduling and maintaining a pace through life’s travails and comittments.
In all of that, Chris and Cindy’s love for this series shines as bright as the animated colours.
As a kid, in following the satellite era of the JLA, I could never imagine that I could see a series like this that jam-packed in so many characters, gave them air time, took the whole thing seriously, and performed such a good continuity of storyline. Live action television series could take a lesson (I’m looking at you, Kurtzman Star Trek).
I could go on and on, but before I do, thanks for allowing me to come on and chat up the Vigilante’s appearances. I’m just so glad that a Golden Age character-so many GA characters!- was brought into the mix of the show. I’ll always say that the original era of comics will always remain the heart of DC.
Take a breather, Chris and Cindy – you deserve it!!!
It was always a pleasure Gord. I’m sure we’ll have opportunities to share a Sarsiparilla (Vig speak for podcasting together) in the future.
Bravo!
Thanks Chuck!
1. by the end I REALLY LIKED Superman which is good cuz I REALLY Did’nt like superman whumpING Captan Marvel definly my least fave
2. Patirot games is good
3 Is talia even from the comic?
1. One of the better parts of the Cadmus Arc was starting to wonder if Superman (and by extension, the League) were getting dangerously close to the Justice Lords. His battle with Captain Marvel, and the Big Red Cheese admoninshing them was a big part of that.
2. Agreed!
3. Yes, she was a Phantom Stranger villain. She even got a Who’s Who entry!

oh yeah the sorta kinda love intrest? I read the phantom stranger showcase in one sitting it’s a blur
Um, wow. How did I forget that one?
Thank you for a great series, Auntie Cindy and Uncle Chris. Hopefully you will return someday with a future special on the “World’s Collide” DTV project (which later became the non-JLU “Crisis on Two Earths”), now that the original script was made available online…
And my apologies to everyone for “setting up” that Grundy date with Tala in HOF. Earth 2 Grundy and I go way back from when he and the Xum Crew hung out with my dad, sister, and me on Mom’s poker nights — watching various animated series and having karaoke parties. So when “Other Grundy” tried to email my dad the other month for relationship advice, I felt that the least I could do was help out…
But I only suggested he try that Bumbler app to put himself out there. I didn’t think that Tala would be on there, or that Other Grundy would swipe right…
We thought about covering “Crisis on Two Earths” and the Justice League Infinity comic mini-series, but ultimately we felt ending our coverage with the series finale “Destroyer” felt more right, and less like just stretching the show out. But who knows, maybe we’ll miss talking about these version of the characters, and we’ll end up discussing both anyway…somewhere down the line.
Don’t apologize to us for the matchmaking, but Grundy, Gentleman Ghost, Cain and Abel may a bit sore with you. 😉
oh yeah also I Kinda like STALKMAN he’s a pharo/fascist alien who dies every six months his mental health takes a beating
congratulations Franklins but now
I think there should be a Seven Soldiers of Victory pizza with extra wing sauce!
7 layers! 7 kinds of cheese! 7 vegetables! 7 meats! PLUS extra Wing sauce!
I don’t have much to add, other than congratulations! Actually finishing a podcast series of any length is a herculean labor, and you would always add audio clips that I was too lazy to do on my own shows!
I will miss hearing Cindy on the regular, but there’s always HOF in September/October.
“Electricity is EVIL!”
Thanks Rob! I think in the early days of HoF, the audio clips ran longer than mine and Cindy’s discussion.
Cindy will return in Avengers: Doomsday…er…I mean Justice Society Presents: Mr. and Mrs. Supeman.
Congratulations! Huge accomplishment, and I’ll miss having new episodes. It was definitely best having just Franklins for the finale. Thank you for a highly enjoyable show.
Thank you Tim! And thanks for honoring us with your podcrashing in our penultimate coverage episode!
Congratulations, bravo, and thank you to both of you! Terrific job! You brought back great memories, made great new ones, and revived my appreciation for Hawkman. I know you already have plans, and they sound great (except for less Cindy), but I’ll give you another idea to consider: A read thru of Morrison’s JLA. Diabolu Frank pointed out that it’s the thirtieth anniversary of the comic. The portrayal of the characters — especially the Big Three — is, to me, more JLU-like than in any other comics I’ve read. That’s outside of the Timmverse comics, obviously.
Anyway, thanks again for all the enjoyment, and God bless your family.
Thanks Captain, and thank you for joining us on the Hawkman-centric episodes! I’m a huge fan of Morrison’s JLA, but I really don’t want to do another index show for a long while. But if I ever were to do another one, that would be a great series to cover.
Sorry I’m late to the party, but congratulations on an amazing podcast. I mentioned before that I didn’t watch JLU when it aired, but I’ve enjoyed watching the series with my youngest son as I followed along with your show. You both did such a great job verbally illustrating the action. Well done, this is a podcast series I will definitely revisit often.
