1st I’d like to congratulate Rob for being that last person on the planet to NOT know about the infamous scene in Teen Wolf. Come on Rob! You do multiple podcasts about film!
As for the gaped mouth dude in the rescue scene, you are absolutely right! I’ve always felt the crowds reaction was meant to demonstrate that Duperman was “old news”. Of course it will always be amazing to actually see Superman in action, but by the time Superman II takes place, the world has gotten used to having him around.
I am deeply ashamed. I am resigning from the podcast, David Ace Gutierrez takes over as co-host as of next week.
I’m also resigning, in protest of Rob resigning. The co-host will be that guy from Teen Wolf. Pants optional.
Chris
No! I take it back! Since when are there actual consequences to posting snide comments! Damn it Facebook! What kind of monster have you turned me into!
Thanks for another entertaining episode, gentlemen.
I like to think that the kid Superman rescued at Niagara Falls returned home from his vacation, and told all of his friends about what happened to him. Of course, his friends don’t believe him. Therefore, he decides to jump of the roof of his house so that Superman can save him again in front of all his friends. Thus was his fate only temporarily averted by Superman.
As an aside, the kid’s parents don’t realize that anythings happened to him until three days later.
I love it! If it was a Bronze Age comic, you’d have an anguished Superman walking away from Lois, ripping off his cape, saying “I’m through, even a Superman can’t defeat…NATURAL SELECTION!!!”
Chris
Until I listened to the show, I never realized that Clark and Lois were still in Niagara Falls this deep into the movie. That is really a shame on my part, since I’ve seen this movie many, many times.
Rob was just the next-to-last person on Earth that didn’t know about the Teen Wolf scene. I didn’t know about it either. I thought all the pants-optional movies were only allowed to be discussed in the comments to the Who’s Who Podcast. Maybe that is why I didn’t notice the Teen Wolf scene was because I haven’t seen it since the 1980s. After I got to college, I guess I was too busy watching movies where the pants-taking-off was more obvious. *Sigh* Laura Gemser *Sigh* I’m going to get banned from the site for putting Laura in every thread. I don’t think I’ve mentioned her on Treasury Cast, yet.
Well, apparently I’m the last person on Earth who doesn’t know who Laura Gemser is. And I’m not googling her now, since I’m at work!
Chris
Oh okay, I remember her now…
Well, I was going to say don’t google her in front of Cindy or the kids, either. Doesn’t sound like *sigh* Laura *sigh* worked her magic on you. Not to be sleazy (may be a little too late for that) but I think Laura was the second most beautiful actress of the 70s. *Sigh* Lynda Carter *Sigh* would be my number one.
Hey Guys, thanks for this coverage. I look forward to it every week. I gotta admit, you had me talking to you in my car the other day.
Regarding the Kryptonian recordings: We have seen records like “Trees” and recordings of Kal-El’s conversations. If you watch the Lara recording that Lex and Miss Tessmacher observe and converse with, you can tell that this is a recording of the conversation that Superman had with her before as she answered a question Lex did not ask. Likewise, in Superman Returns, we see the same thing when Lex and others see Jor-El’s first conversation with Superman. You will notice those recordings are on larger crystals than the Kryptonian records too.
You keep recording, I’ll keep listening.
