  1. Great episode Mr Franklin and Mr Kelly , …. especially love your take on the moment Superman gets ” bowel issues ” at Lana’s house lol .
His suit will change color as his synthetic Kryptonite poisoning condition worsens ( slighty deep greenish blue imo) in the following scenes .. and so does his hair tone . (btw imo Superman turning evil and creepy … is almost every scene of Snyder’s take on Superman in MOS and JL , … or maybe i just hate Cavill’s face.. even more than Lex hates Supes)

  2. You’re doing great guys! Hang in there! You’ve reached the summit, you just have to make your way back down.
I personally believe that Superman took the “kryptonite” from Gus because he wasn’t feeling any ill affects. On top of that, it’s likely that the “kryptonite” was already affecting his mind and impairing his judgment. It would help explain his confused look when he accepts it and sits back down.
I’ve also always believed Superman wasn’t being a jerk when he straightens the Tower of Pisa. I believe that his judgment clouded mind saw a building falling over, and he flew in to fix it. He thought he was doing the right thing.

    1. straightening the Tower of Pisa is like something Bizzaro would do , and if he did so he wouldn’t be a jerk ’cause that’s how that alternative-thinking cutie-pie operates
… but in this case of “poisoned” or “sick” Supes , there is a streak of drunken yet deliberate malice in the following “good” deeds he does that makes him a real “S” , imo

      1. sorry Matt , i meant to type Bizarro not Bizzaro … should have switched on my DC spellcheck , but if it was my choice i’d add double zz and double rr for Bizzarro … plus double oos

  3. While listening to today’s episode, an odd thought popped into my mind: Would Superman 3 have been (marginally) better if they had cast Adam West in the “Ross Webster” role rather than Robert Vaughn? Vaughn’s career was on more solid ground after his Man from UNCLE days compared to West’s post-Batman status. Vaughn was not a movie star any longer and really doesn’t add much star power to the proceedings. One of the selling points for the 1978 film was big names in relatively small parts. If you’re going to go for someone of Vaughn’s status why not just go all-in with Adam West?

  4. So the villains’ plan was to assassinate Superman in the middle of Smallville during a Superman appreciation festival? Wow. And I don’t think Gus was such a great con man because he was clearly a patsy. And Webster was willing to give up his Golden goose computer hacker? You could have sent anybody else to do that.
One other thought, I always thought that the synthetic kryptonite should have been red. The tar could have accounted for the color change. The effect it had is more consistent with red kryptonite.

    1. Someone at Scholastic thought the same thing you did, Mike. In their Superman Movie Book, they compare the synthetic Kryptonite to Red Kryptonite, and even did some early pre-photoshop work to make the synthetic Green K red in color!!!

  5. The more I listen to this podcast, the more I remember about why I never watched this movie after the first time.
