  1. I am not kidding here when I say that when I thought “what would *I* do on Fantastic Pour?”, I thought of doing Hawkeye AND Avengers 174.

GET OUT OF MY HEAD, SEAN AND BRETT!

Or stay, but be ready for some terrifying nightmares.

  2. My brother and I are one Star Trek the original series kick I’m wondering if at some point you might cover one of the marvel Star Trek comic that did after the first Star Trek movie . Maybe you get friend who is big Star Trek fan as guest .
Now back to hawk eye I don’t know match about him but I did love the next avengers episode with saving and adopting a cat and the cat gets own iron man amor .
    Here’s my secret question:
    1. Who would win a fight hawk eye vs Johnny and thunder blot and hawk man . Also some how the JSA members have bin warped to Avengers New York and they think hawk eyes a crook .

    1. Thanks, Bucky. You never know about Star Trek. The Lounge is a mysterious place. And Hawkeye wins.

  3. Guinness is probably my favorite beer (check my last name), so this beverage combo sounded particularly delightful.

That Avengers cover is so wonderfully overdone, in the best George Perez-ian way–just giving the readers the absolute most for their 35 cents.

Brett, it was funny to hear you talk about how you at least got to see the Eagles win “one” Super Bowl, knowing you recorded this before the most recent win.

This show continues to be a great addition to the network!

    1. Thanks, Rob. Yeah, little did I know at the time that my Iggles would add another Lombardi Trophy a few months after recording!

  4. Another great episode, Brett, and Sean never fails to deliver! Hawkeye is one of my favorite Marvel heroes and a quintessential Avenger. For me, Captain America and Hawkeye are tied for the most Avenger-y Avengers. I always loved the archer gimmick on a super-teams and his color scheme was so boldly different from almost every other superhero.

When you asked Sean about Hawkeye’s depiction in the MCU, I went back to an old take I had several years ago: that Marvel Studios’ version of Star-Lord is basically the Hawkeye from the comics, and vice versa. So to have you voice the same opinion two minutes later was both weird and fun.

Per the listener feedback section and the question about what kind of liquor Lando Calrissian drinks: I know they’ve name-checked a few alcoholic beverages throughout Star Wars literature. The two that spring to mind first are Lomin ale and lum, but those are both ales, whereas Lando I think tends to favor brandies and cognacs. I think there’s a Chandrillan cocktail (from Mon Mothma’s homeworld) that Lando drank in one of the Timothy Zahn novels, but can’t remember for sure.

    1. Thanks, Ryan. Yes, every good Avengers team needs Cap and Hawkeye. Thanks for the Lando drink information. Can’t believe you didn’t have a Colt 45 reference.

  5. “Once during my younger days I walked into a liquor store…and drank it.”–Sean, more or less 😉

  6. Great show – you two might have a future in podcasting! Doubly glad I’m not the new guy at the network any more.

Since you asked (and since I haven’t had any rum punch yet), Dave Wentzel is best known as a children’s book artist. For comics, he did 4 issues of Avengers at this time (of which this was the first) and also did some Savage Sword of Conan. He only has 21 mainstream comics credits per MAW: https://www.mikesamazingworld.com/main/features/creator.php?creatorid=972

His best known work is his fully painted adaption of The Hobbit – written by Chuck Dixon and Sean Deming, first published by Eclipse Comics in 1989. This has gone on to many more printings. Per Wikipedia Wenzel’s non-book related projects include puzzles, greeting cards, and two entire miniature kingdoms of collectible figurines. He also teaches at Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts in Connecticut.

He is still with us at age 74 – here is his wiki page for those interested: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Wenzel

Happy to help! Now – where is that server dressed like Thundra – I need some rum punch!

    1. Always great to climb up on Uncle Paul’s knee and hear a comic book history lesson! You’re the best, Paul!

  7. This drink sounds great, Brett.

Green Arrow/Oliver Queen has never really clicked w/ me (although I do have a fondness for the Conner Hawke version). So Hawkeye has always been my favorite super-archer. He’s a cornerstone of every great iteration of The Avengers.

Clint also had two really good miniseries, one written and drawn by Mark Gruenwald and one written by Chuck Dixon.
