I was hoping y’all would’ve done something with the Hybrid since they are DC’s version of the X-Men.
It was on my shortlist, but I couldn’t resist doing what I did instead.
I think I would pick the following books
Iron Munroe: Iron of the Metalmen, strikes out on his own after he feels unappreciated by the others. He has been doing all the heavy lifting and believes nobody noticed. Basically a road book; he runs into friends and enemies, old and new, on his travels. These might include the Missilemen, Chemo, Plasticman, Animal-Vegetable-Mineralman and others as he explores the Absurd Corners of the DCU.
John Constantine: I would go completely oppossite of Shag. Decent and upstanding, he is continually dragged into paranormal cases despite his best efforts. His decency is the only thing that lets him succeed.
KatmaTui: A Guardian of the Universe, she has secretly protected Earth for millenia in a Shadow War against the Guardians anchient enemies, the Dark Stars
My villain would be Kiteman, because ehh, Kiteman
I like the Iron Munro bit where he feels overshadowed by the other pseudo-Supermen in the Legion. My personal notes for an LSH reboot includes the line “Throw Kryptonians at it until one sticks.”
It should be Constan-TINE, but Amurrikans forced -TEEN.
Siskoid’s Kilowog reminded me of Speed Racer or Wacky Races. My version would be a former GL stranded on Earth, who uses his alien tech to advance Earth’s biomedicine thousands of years. Think a techbro who’s not a total jerk, who’s hunted by big pharma, human racists, and supervillain assassins.
Both Lady Blackhawk series would be on my pull list.
Shag’s Lady Shiva series sounds great. I feel like a 12-issue series would be too short, but an ongoing might end up straying from the original path, so I’d propose using the “seasons” model. The same editor would be at the helm for all four seasons, but the creative teams could change. Seasons could include Shiva’s fall from grace; becoming an assassin (killing bad guys); climbing the ranks (killing anyone); confronting the past (Richard Dragon and Bronze Tiger attempt to bring her to justice).
If I were playing the game (with only one title), I would take on JLI. The team would be entirely comprised of Global Guardians (minus Dr. Mist and Jack-o-Lantern). Their main villains would be Jack-o-Lantern, Queen Bee, and updated versions of any villains created for the Super Friends comic (Menagerie Man, Warhead, etc.). I would ask the creators to adhere to the 1971 Comics Code, which makes it all-ages, in my mind.
Late thanks for another marvellous episode. This was such a great issue, even when the characters aren’t great the art is often top notch >cough The Hybrid cough<.
Arn Munro is one of the best entries in Update #3, he looks like he’s come from Club Tropicana. Did you ever read the very sexy Marvel Preview adaptation of Gladiator by Roy Thomas and Tony DeZuniga, sadly unavailable on Marvel Unlimited, presumably the rights have reverted.
Siskoid, you will be thrilled to hear that John Constantine recently teamed up with Supergirl in one of those DC giant thingies.
I would definitely buy Siskoid’s Justice Society International, heck, it’s probably the best pitch I’ve ever heard in the history of the show.
And I would snap up Kilowog from Shag, throw Wally West in there too, he’s a mechanic.
Shag, so far as your Justice League Infinity goes there isn’t a problem getting Andy the Aquagirl in there as she is currently aged up (though perhaps evil). I might buy this series, but we’d have to kill Trinity immediately, painfully and definitively. Maybe more than once.
